Film censors are far less strict than they used to be. Die Hard itself was actually reclassified at 15 a few years back.

Utterly brilliant, it felt like watching TloU in film version.

Mad Max Fury Road 9/10

Manchester by the Sea 7/10

Super bleak, super maudlin, great central performance. Not much else to say really. It was pretty good.

Logan 9/10

Brilliant, well shot, nicely paced and has character at the heart of the film rather than being a set up for a action set piece.

And the emotional throughline got me.

At times it felt like the last of us, right down to the beard and reluctant road trip feel.

A superb end to Jackmans Wolverine.

Patriots Day - 7.5/10 Really enjoyed this movie.

Nocturnal Animals - 9/10

Well this film is amazing. I thought I was prepared for a disturbing beginning after the comments on here, but I still nearly turned it straight off. I'm glad I didn't because this is easily one of the best films I've seen in awhile. Superbly acted by everyone (it's hard to pick a standout) and it looks fantastic-I love how they captured the bleakness during the novel scenes. It all hangs together perfectly, with the novel intertwining with Amy Adam's journey of self realisation and doesn't ever stray into pretentiousness, which it could so easily have done. All in all, excellent.

Kong - Skull Island

9.5/10

Now thats how you make a monster movie. Set in the same universe as Godzilla (2014) this is so much better. A brilliant early set piece sets the tone with wonderful editing and a steady camera combined with amazing ILM effects. Kong walks tall and is a constant threat, but nothing compared to the other island inhabitants which make Peter Jackson's movie look like a child friendly version.

There is a big cast so a lot of people can die, and die they do. Surprisingly quickly and with some unique and memorable departures.

Sam Jackson is brilliant and plays the best character in it. The fact that 90% of the action scenes are set during the day means we see everything, unlike the recent Godzilla film.

Overalls it's a wonderful movie with a sense of wonder and killer soundtrack.

Make sure you stay til the end of the end credits for a marvel style expanded universe set up for Godzilla 2 ( directed by the guy who did Krampus and Trick R Treat) it's all set up for Godzilla vs Long Kong in 2020. Which he is also very likely to direct.

As far as monster movies go, it's better than Godzilla 2014 and King Kong (Peter Jackson) it's not the same level of amazement as Pacific Rim but it does have better pacing and more frequent action moments. Basically go and see it.

I went in knowing literally nothing about the film-like many I assume, as it wasn't heavily publicised as far as I'm aware. It's a seriously wtf am I watching moment...

Look Who's Back

Absolutely brilliant. One that everyone should watch.

The maze runner - 5/10

Interesting premise but clearly aimed at a younger audience.

Wasn't horribly bad but not great by any means.

Sequel is loads better. Basically a zombie movie for part of it, with very good effects and a strong ending.

I saw Kong Island last night. I'm sorry, Godzilla, but this film is terrible. I can barely find the words. It's just a snappier version of the Peter Jackson one which was also gooseberry fool. It's nowhere near brutal enough for a monster movie and none of the characters save for John C Riley is worth a damn at all.

It's a 4/10.

People in the cinema were clapping at the end of it too. Whether it was sarcastic applause or not, I'm not sure.

Urgh. I can't stand it when people do that.

Clapping in cinemas is bizzare. The performers are not there. It's no different than standing up and applauding after watching something on Netflix in bed.

I thought​ Kong was brutal enough. The spider attack and opening battle were pretty grim for the humans. The final battle was as brutal as Godzilla final fight or Jacksons's Kong vs t Rex fight.

I'm seeing it again soon so I'll see if it holds up to multiple viewings.

Why's that weird? How else would the CIA know that you really enjoyed that episode of Stranger Things?

My mate got offended when i said it was weird when he clapped when watching football on TV at the pub.
