No way, Star Trek has always been better. You crazy man.

Bladerunner - 8/10

Been meaning to watch this again. A very slow moving movie, but it works. It's gorgeous to look at most of the time.

The 'love' scene still makes me uncomfortable though. I don't know what they were going for with that.

Watched a few films recently without giving a score.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 8/10- really enjoyable characters the plot could have been slightly tighter but no major complaints.

Doctor Strange 5 /10 - the only interesting thing about this is the ending but I wasn't a fan at all of how we got there and not entirely convinced the ending makes sense in the context of the rest of the movie. Cumberbatches American accent was also annoying.

Arrival 5/10 was really hyped for this but just a bit boring.

Strangers on a train 6/10 - Those old fashioned writers can't compete with today's super writers.

Alien Covenant 8/10. Just back from seeing this and I gotta say this is a return to form for the series. I absolutely loved it. Easy third place in the whole saga (not that it's a wholly difficult position to obtain but still).

Fassbender Is amazing and Katherine Waterston & Danny Mcbride put in solid performances but most of the rest of the cast are expendable nobodies. Thankfully there isn't any utter stupidity like there was from the crew of the Prometheus, these are mostly competent human beings. The movie looked and sounded incredible. The music cues from the original Alien were a great touch, too. Got me nostalgic as strawberry float.

More please.

Alien Covenant

That's a big strawberry floating alien.
A nice blend of Alien / Aliens & Prometheus. The music was spot on & a few giggles with the
robot Kung fu

3/5

There was one scene that caught me off guard. Jumped out of my skin.

I didn't find it that scary to be honest. Couple of jump scares but that's it. It is VERY tense at times, though. It's got a terrific atmosphere throughout.

Alien Covenant

Haven't seen Prometheus.

That was legitimately gooseberry fool.

Terrible characters. I could tell you maybe 4-6 names. When everyone's defining characteristic is incompetent and/or stupid it's hard to differeniate or care. The 'last supper' photograph someone looks towards the end wasn't a genuine 'wait who are all those people?' moment rather than a somberinb reflection.

The 'threats' look ridiculous and fake CGI. (Also they grow to full size in about 30 seconds now)

Its badly shot in frantic shakes quick cut action came. I didn't even realise a 5th person had died due bad editing and not even realising we wew missing a character.

I'd rate it below AR and both AvPs - mainly cus of massive disservice to the Alien. It's not a threat on its own - its a threat because incompetent crew and writer created contrivance rather any menace or skill.

Yeah I thought it was very unrealistic how the alien came to life in what seemed like minutes or hours. The fights were too easy as well and did not feel tense at all. Finally yes none of the characters except David/Walter and Daniels were memorable.

Very nostalgic 8/10
But still rather watch Alien and Aliens any day. Can't believe they have canned Alien 5.

I found Alien Covenant to be ok but just an overall disappointment.
I'd give it a 6 or 7.

Re:Ending

Wtf was with her standing in front of the truck, which seems to have zero ground clearance, magically dodging it and Alan?

Then just happily some how effortlessly holding on during decompression?

Reshoot or something?

Rating it below both AvsP and Resurrection is a hell of a claim.

Also if it's top three (chalky) are you saying it's better than 3? I'd be ecstatic if that was the case.
I'm seeing this on IMAX tomorrow.

The Descent -8/10

That was far more tense than I expected, mainly due to the horribly claustrophobic setting in which everything takes place.

Some of the characters were annoying as strawberry float though.

Alien Covenant - 2/10

Wow. So this will be a long review/rant as it's genuinely a cluster strawberry float. Spoilers will be spoilered.

I'd rate Aliens 10/10, Alien 10/10 Alien 3 Directors Cut 7/10. Along Resurrection 5/10 . Prometheus 7/10. avp is crap buy fun crap, avp uncut is fun crap 6/10.

So...... Ridley Scott needs to retire after this.

It's basically movie tropes bingo.

They remove all practical effects and use 100% CGI, well lit CGI. Which in a sci Fi movie would be good but in horror looks awful. Each cgi enemy is worst than the last and there is an arms out stretched moment which should be in some 80s ET Knock off.

The plot is beyond gooseberry fool and I called each twist and kill way before the moment they occured.

The ending and shock moment is no shock as it belongs in strawberry floating Sunset Beach or hollyoaks.

The positive reviews are from critics who don't know horror or sci Fi and because they see the name Ridley Scott. If this was made by someone else and they did what has been done to the franchise then it would be getting horrendous reviews.

The changes to the alien, the terrible writing, it feels like a student film with a big budget.

I was bored and the last section was so sign posted and so bloody dull. It's CGI wank and it's all just a gooseberry fool re hash to better movies.

Only thing I liked was the potential for a very good villian but it went panto by the end. I can't imagine how God awful the next one will be.

Spoilers
Alien showed us how to make an Android scary. This is star wars Episode 3 villian level of panto shite.

My God the CGI, face burster and back burster both terrible.

The breathe on the nose of a horse scene , looked like an outtake from doom.

Speed up tht incubation period, everyone hated that in AVP.

CGI alien crushed in a metal hand. Why not just paint it yellow and fully piss over Aliens.

A sad film, even if you remove the title and see it as stand alone sci Fi movie..... It's forgettable I can remember 4 characters names.

For once the spoiler heavy trailer was better than the film.

Wish my image sig would work

Alien Covenant

3/10

Can't believe that after the flak Prometheus (deservedly) received for the crew members' ridiculously WTF actions/decisions, they've only gone and done the same thing again. Can't even blame Lindelof this time.
