I always got the impression that "All I can see from it is that she went in to the film actively looking for something to hate" is pretty much Sarkeesian's MO?

I've not watched most of her stuff, but her general ideology that "games are sexist" has much more validity than "this one film is racist." Because yeah, most games are sexist.

You think that block was really modeled after the letter L?

It's just body shaming, notice how Tetris blocks are all exactly the same perfect shapes?

Real blocks have curves.

Also: inserting long, thick, blocks into smooth, shapely holes without consent. Tetris is a dude-bro's wet dream.

Still an absolute classic. Arguably Crow's finest role.

From the late 90s to, I don't know, maybe mid 2000s he was in some really good films. Feels like a long time since he's done anything good though.

If you pick 10 female characters from games (randomly, and across the years) chances are 7-10 of them will be overtly sexualised and not the main character. There are exceptions: Alyx, Clem from the Walking Dead, Max from Life is Strange, but it's certainly not the norm. Click-bait games don't advertise using scantily clad men, after all.

Anyway. Off topic. Do PM me though if you want to continue!

American Gangster stands out as one of Crow's better films since Gladiator. That said I felt Washington's performance took the film.

I've just checked IMDB and my dates were a bit off, I think State of Play (2009) was the last decent one I saw him in. I liked Master & Commander, 3:10 to Yuma and American Gangster too, which were like 2007-2009.

EDIT: Another Master & Commander would be good...there's a tonne of books to work from. Doesn't seem like the kind of film that would set the box office alight though.

Yeah, Master and Commander wasn't really what I was expecting, but it definitely won me over. I can't imagine that it did well at the box office, if people were well informed about it going into it.

Have you seen The Nice Guys? If not I recommend it and Crowe is great in it.

Hmm, no I haven't. Just looked it up, might be a good one to try and help me get over my Ryan Gosling aversion before Blade Runner as well. :slol:

I think it is the only movie I have seen Gosling in. No idea how annoying he is in other movies, but he was great in The Nice Guys.
