Average film about a TV host (Clooney) of a Stock market tips show who is taken hostage on live TV by some bloke who lost all his money following a tip previously that has just tanked. Its not that long - about 75 mins I think but it did drag a bit in that short time.

Yeah I agree, no problem with the concept but the execution was lacking. You don't really care about the characters and there's a weird lack of tension at times.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

A nice ending to a series I enjoy and will miss now it's gone.

8.5/10

Just as a side note I watched this in 3D IMAX and there weren't any axes flying at me or anything that screamed 3D so you may want to stick to 2D as you won't be missing out on anything.

Sightseers 7/10 Hilarious romp around the countryside, can't believe I didn't stumble across Ben Wheatley till High Rise. Need to go back through his work and see them all.

Hacksaw Ridge 8/10 Mel Gibson knows how to make entertaining films, though felt the final act was a little heavy handed on delivering the emotion.

Manchester By The Sea 7/10 Felt this was a bit overrated, it's good, but a little dry, a little melodramatic in regards to backstory.

Lego Batman - 10/10

Pretty much a perfect animated movie. So many references to the other batman films. Amazing pacing and arguably one for the best screen Batman's ever seen.

It's just so good. Even him from The Hangover as The Joker was excellent. The entire cast was brilliant.

Loved every moment of it.

Resident Evil The Final Chapter - 6/10

Not brilliant. Rather dull compared to parts 4 and 5. Just a bit of a meh movie.

Very weak ending to the film too. Should have ended with 5.

I do love the series but it's seen better days. Such a dark film, everything happens at night.

Wish my image sig would work

Maybe the T virus has infected the sun and it's less bright?

Looking for a Scifi or thriller film to watch this evening (on Sky). Any recommendations? I was thinking maybe one of the old star trek films if any of them good stand alones (my only Star Trek experience are the new films and pop culture). Alternatively one of the 90s Batman films?

A;ternatively there's some other films, Solaris, Predestination, Cape Fear, Dog day afternoon, Strangers on a train, internal affairs also look interesting.

The Terminator

Far purer, and better for it, than its much lauded sequel.

Human v Terminator > Terminator v Terminator

No Terminator with emotions bullshit.

No annoying kid.

9/10 I'll be back

I ended up watching Internal Affairs. I wish I hadn't. 3/10.- No tension, no thrills, no action.

This kinda happened with me once. I think it was Banjo that recommended I watch Blue Ruin but I somehow got a hold of and watched Blue Valentine instead. VERY different film.

Kill List!

Though after seeing it, most attempts by other films to be unnerving or tense rather fall flat.

Wasn't sure where to post this but thought some of you might be interested. I've recently subscribed to a youtube channel that talks about action films and the various aspects of what makes them great/bad:

Awwww yiss!

Predator
He makes a really good point about the shootout/assault on the outpost though, it really does feel dislocated from the rest of the film.

Even though it's arguably the most action intense part of the film, I find myself switching off temporarily when that part of the film is on.
