It was sounding great until that last line. Now I am imagining it is like The Happening crossed with The Haunted Mansion.

Someone needs to pitch that movie! :datass:

I missed this at the cinema but "acquired" it and watched over the weekend.

I am not the biggest Star Wars fan in the world, but this was a decent and entertaining movie in its own right. It jumped around between a few too many worlds at the start which was jarring but after that it was solid entertainment. And was far far better than any of the other prequels.

This (and some comments from others) is encouraging. I've not seen this yet because my love for Star Wars was pretty much killed off by the last film (Episode VII?). Whilst everyone else was raving about it, I thought it was unspectacular and just tarnished further my happy Star Wars memories. I'll certainly check this out when it appears on NowTV.

Hang on? What? You didn't like TFA? Reasons please?

Straight up racist. Butler gives a smackdown-speech to the film's villain which is him screaming that all brown people will have been wiped out in 1000 years, and that the white man is king.

Genuinely disgusting stuff.

I don't remember that bit.

It's on Netflix. Scroll to 1:20:40.

I just saw this posted on Facebook and thought of you!

London has fallen.

Lion 8/10 I really enjoyed it, some parts slightly dragged in the middle, but overall very good film I thought. Bit of a tear-jerker though...

Logan - 7/10

Good cinema film. Some lovely camera work and beautifully visceral combat. Decent-ish story too. Enjoyed this a lot more than the heaps of the forgettable superhero films of late.

Had a bit of a blitz since Friday to today:

#. 10 Cloverfield Lane - 8/10; loved this, John Goodman was fantastic and want to see a continuation of this story.

#. Dr. Strange - 5/10; boring, worst Marvel film I've seen yet. Did not care for any characters or the plot. Best scene was the first after credits scene.

#. Kong: Skull Island - 7/10 really enjoyed this, cool action adventure film, brill soundtrack and stellar cast. John C Reilly stole the show, sadly legged it out of the Cinema at the end only to realize I'd missed the after credits scene once I'd got home, setting up the Monster-Verse. :fp:

#. Legend of Tarzan - 4/10 - passable action flick; didn't think it was terrible nor fantastic either, 99p rental on iTunes.

#. Logan - 8/10 - superb film, I'm sure I ate a tangfastic that made my eyes water at the end. :(

#. Prisoners - 8/10 - great thriller, Gyllenhaal is slowly becoming one of my fave actors. Jackman is immense, this feels like a David Fincher film.

Also watched Season 4, 5, 6 of Nurse Jackie, Ozzy and Jack World Detour and Season 1 of Taboo.

What to consume next...

Power rangers 2017 - wow it was actually really good. Probably the best reboot of something I enjoyed as a child (slightly better than the original transformers reboot). Yes there were things I would have done differently but it was actually really good. Definitely not for kids, more aimed at teens and adults. Naomi Scott is a total babe. 8/10. I hope it does well enough for a sequel.

M Night Shyamalan's SPLIT? M Night Shyamalan's gooseberry fool, more like.

Actually, I kind of liked SPLIT, despite it being unevenly scripted, and clearly made on a relative shoestring. McAvoy's performance(s!) was/were excellent, there's a nice slow build of dread before Shyamalan tips his hand, and if Anya Taylor-Joy isn't a massive star within the next three years then there's something very wrong (or she'll keep being brilliant in weird indie horrors and never get mainstream recognition). I really liked the ending, too, even if I immediately recognised the music cue so I knew what was going on before the reveal.

A generous [7] maybe.

Ghost In The Shell (2017)

I haven't seen the original so can't compare there but I thought this was decent. Not a film I'll still be raving about years from now but it was an enjoyable watch. The soundtrack was excellent.

I just finished watching Predestination and I strawberry floating loved every second.
It's a fantastic time travel film with a compelling story and some superb characters and if I had to say why I love Sci-Fi films so much this would be one of the films I'd showcase.

If you have any interest at all in the genre than I can't recommend this film enough.
It's a science fiction film and love story all wrapped up in one amazing story :D .

10/10  .

Free Fire 9/10 I absolutely strawberry floating loved this. So damn entertaining and funny. The whole cast is fantastic but Sharlto Copley almost steals the movie for himself. Ben Wheatley continues to be one of the best directors around. Easily his most accessible movie, too. Highly recommended.
