It's a fantastic time travel film with a compelling story and some superb characters and if I had to say why I love Sci-Fi films so much this would be one of the films I'd showcase.

If you have any interest at all in the genre than I can't recommend this film enough.
It's a science fiction film and love story all wrapped up in one amazing story :D .

10/10  .

...and also totally impossible. You forgot to mention that.

Ben Wheatley continues to be one of the best directors around. Easily his most accessible movie, too. Highly recommended.

Does this involve time travel at all?
If not I'm out.

I got it on the Amazon download service for £7 and was happy paying that but as people have said you may be able to snag it for less. If you can manage to find it for £3 it should be an easy decision.

The Orphanage - 9/10

I really enjoyed this. It's perhaps a bit slow to get going, but it's unsettling, atmospheric, tense and touching. It reminded me a lot of 'The Others', which I also really liked, and it actually has a satisfying ending, which a lot of films seem to struggle with. The soundtrack is wonderful as well. Highly recommended.

I really didn't think much of Predestination at all, it all seemed a bit silly to me.

The whole 'emergency sex change' thing is possibly the most ludicrous plot device I've ever seen.

Ghost in the Shell - 6/10

Very pretty but a very meh movie. No emotional depth, no character development, Acton scenes are boring, it just felt like a nicer looking version of any 90s sci Fi movie.

Pretty much all important moments are sign posted too.

It's just a massive space filler of a movie. It was made to tick a box and try to make money.

Power Rangers - 7/10

Well that was a nice surprise. Very likeable cast, some good nods to The Breakfast Club, good effects and time to build characters.

Blue Ranger was very well done and I really liked the zords and colours of it all. Needed another action set piece or two though. I didn't care for the final parts of the final battle as it was pretty pointless. But before that it was good stuff.

Worth a watch, much better than Transformers and Turtles big screen debuts.

Logan 6/10

It was alright, but I'm not a fan of gore so I didn't enjoy that too much. I also thought just ripping people up is a bit... boring, I rather have him do something cool, like in the Wolverine when...

He burst into that guys hotel room, picked him up and threw him over the balcony, then the camera moves over the edge and shows him he was thrown in a pool, and that girl who was with Logan says "how did you know there was a pool there?" and he replies "I didn't".

I thought that was a lot cooler, and more clever than just stick claws through this guys head at a slightly different angle.

I enjoyed the story though, I thought it was a cool way to wrap up the franchise, although some of the ideas in the movie seem a bit dated.

Like the whole idea of the mutant super soldier, now seems pretty pointless with how much more automated the world is becoming. I think something like Metal Gear Solid handled this better, where they sort of transitioned from the idea of super soldiers to nano-machines.

Also speaking of dated, did anyone else notice that only that first car actually looked futuristic. Everything else just looked like it was either from today, or 20 years ago.

What about the bit whereXavier stops time and Logan has to fight his way into a room bursting with telepathic energy, or the bit where he car-fus the gooseberry fool out of a limo, or the bit where he emotionally connects to his daughter or the bit where a kid drops a car on some cyborgs, or the bit where he strawberry floating fights his own clone to the death.

I'm usually pretty live and let live with your common-a-garden movie opinion, but comparing this film negatively in any way to X-Men Origins: Wolverine is strawberry floating sacrilegious.

EDIT. Re: the cars. That's the point. This is a dying world. The cars are all old as the movie is implying this is a world of entropy and backwards looking nostalgia. Also, did you completely miss the automated trucks?

I'm not even going to comment on the MGS comparison.

The fight in the hotel room is exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned just sticking his claws into people's heads at slightly different angles. The story itself was good, I felt it was a nice way to wrap up everything, but I wasn't such a fan of the action sequences.

Regarding the cyborgs, that was another really under-utilized element. As far as I could tell they were all just amputees. They never seemed to actually do anything cyborg-ish. There were a bunch of dudes with robot arms but at no point did anyone actually use these arms to do something cool.

So they have autonomous trucks, but literally every other car is just a normal car, in good condition with no rust, or anything else. They should have skipped the cyborg arms and just glued a bunch of piping/ solar panels to the outside of the cars like they did in Looper.

Regarding the MGS stuff, that wasn't really a criticism, that's the universe the movie is set in, so fine they have super soldiers, it's just one of those things that I noticed which I found funny. Kind of like when you watch a really old Sci-Fi movie and in the future they're still using magnetic tape, or the space ship has people that stoke atomic furnaces, it's just an antiquated idea.

Edit: Also the example I gave was from The Wolverine, not X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and I never said which movie I thought was better, just that I really liked that one scene, but there was really nothing comparable in this movie.

Edit 2: There was actually another scene that I just remembered that seems really forced and makes no sense.

When the bad guy goes and talks to the gas station attnedant, and it's implied they kill him. Why? The attnedant would clearly want to cooperate with the police, so there's no reason for that scene other than to establish that the bad guy is really bad, as if the whole testing on children/murdering thing was not enough

Ghost in the Shell (2017) 7/10

Saw the anime film at the cinema a few months ago when it got a limited release (decent but I didn't think it lived up to its reputation). I was surprised at how different this version was, I've never read the manga or seen the series so I dunno if they've taken stuff from that as well or what. Thought some of the changes were for the better and they were clearly done to make it more "Hollywood". They did a really good job of adapting the visual style of the anime and I loved the look of the city, but I wasn't really a fan of the new design of the spider tank which was pretty iconic in the original.

Well they strawberry floated this up didn't they? A fresh premise, two of hollywoods current most bankable stars, decent supporting cast (Michael Sheen is always great isn't he?) and all the CGI they could need. And they came up with a boring, creepy "romantic" story that once again, has Hollywood suggesting you can manipulate people and do strawberry floated up gooseberry fool to them in the name of love. Throw in some daft sci-fi and there's not a lot redemning this.

Passengers 5/10 - It was alright. A potential great story, poorly executed. And pretty much what Tomous said.

Has anyone made the mistake of trying to..."acquire" Split by M Night Shyamalan and accidentally watched this by mistake: http://m.imdb.com/title/tt3315656/

Literally the worst film I've ever seen.

I didnt hate it, but like you did think it was a missed opportunity with what they had available.

I think the ending would have been better if he had died, and then it cuts to a year later and shes opening someone elses casket.

I think it would have been so much better if they had revealed during the reveal that ...

He has done this many times before but the women kill themselves and he keeps waking up other women.

Eventually she kills him, then after months of being alone .....She wakes someone else up
