Don't remember Fishburne wearing a dress, let alone a sexy one :dread:

I haven't seen 3 yet, but 2 is the one about the virus and is set mainly in Australia.

3 is the one with all the face masks. :fp:

MI:4 Ghost Protocol - 6.5/10

Entertaining but nothing special. Hawkeye was decent, Pegg was Pegg, the girl was pretty, Marcellus Wallace wasn't in it enough.

And there were face masks.

Fast & Furious 7 - 8/10

Utterly ridiculous and cheesy but a very enjoyable film nonetheless, the tribute to Paul Walker at the end was actually quite touching.

Batman vs Superman
+ I kinda didn't mind watching some bits of it
- Batman looks like a wrestler
- Perhaps the film was set in an alternative universe... but Batman didn't seem like Batman and Superman didn't seem like Superman
- So many characters are introduced and, unless you're totally aware of previous DC films, you're bemused at to who they are and what is going on

4/10

Wonder Woman
+ Great action, cool effects
+ Decent storyline
+ Fun to watch

The Mummy 2017 - 5/10

My word that was generic. It feels very much like World War Z. The entire film and one good reveal has been revealed in countless trailers. The CGI zombies are piss poor Lifeforce knock off, but look worse. The buddy was American Werewolf in London, the rest was 90s gooseberry fool.

Only good bits were Russell Crowe camping it up, the couple of nods to the series (Brendan Fraser Trilogy) and the hints at a bigger universe.

The ending is terrible, the action is dull, everything is sign posted and the sound is intrusive.

Also not so much as a chuckle throughout the entire thing.

Just an odd film, as it feels like it was made 20 years ago and has just been released. Really makes the last trilogy look like The Dark Knight Trilogy, that's how soulless, dull and without any spark of imagination it is.

Wish my image sig would work

Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome

First time I've seen this. It's almost like a kids movie, and not in a good way.

I know for certain 4 was my favourite though and that 5 was surprisingly enjoyable. I remember watching 1 not that long ago and thinking that it had aged badly.

Really struggling to remember what happens in 2 and 3.

MI1: Train Tunnel
MI2: John woo slow mo trademark. And famous for that PS4 reveal GIF. Virus.
MI3: The one with Hoffman. And The wave at the end. Wife kidnapping.

MI4: Simon pegg.
MI5: Simon Pegg.

MI: Rogue Nation - 7/10

I enjoyed this one, silly as ever (face masks again!) but it had Alec Baldwin in who was awesome. A load of bollocks in how they saved the day, but it was fun enough to not matter.

Wonder Woman 7/10 It's a decent superhero movie but not genre transcending and not a patch on the Dark Knight.

The Mummy (2017) - 5/10

Jeez, it didn't match the title "The Mummy" and it just felt a different film to me. It was filmed too much in London and it showed very tiny bit at Egypt which was very disappointing.

Overall the story was very poor and I just don't know what else to say about this film.

Disappointing.

Shimmer Lake - 8/10 - New Netflix dark comedy movie with Rain Wilson. Really enjoyable movie with a strong ending. It's shown much like Memento as it starts with the end and goes to the beginning. Luckily the ending is strong enough to keep it all together. Worth a watch.

I've watched this a few times now and it is always a treat. I still can't quite decide if, in many instances, the characters are acting or if it is genuine. Billy Mitchell comes across as such an arse... but there is still something about him that makes you want to watch. There are so many interesting geeks in the film and it's marvelous to see their passion for particular games in the Extras section.

It could be the best videogame film / documentary ever made; it's certainly a lot of fun to watch. 8/10.

Just watched it through again and it really is exceptional. So many characters! Of course, the record has changed hands several times since this was made ten years ago, but it remains compulsive viewing.

I've heard they spent more time trying to build the 'Dark Universe' than actually telling the Mummy story?!

OJ - Made in America - 9/10

Not a film as such, but a 7.5 hour long documentary (split into 5 parts), so makes sense to talk about it here I think.

It pretty much charted his life from high school football star right through to today, with (obviously) massive focus on the trial, and long interviews with the prosecution, the defense, the DA, the LAPD, some of the jurors..basically anyone involved.

There's too much to write about here, but it was really interesting, and the subtext of the race riots, Rodney King, LAPD etc was all covered in-depth as well. Genuinely interesting, and tragic in so many ways, with plenty of WTF moments when it came to the trial, some of the decisions made, the jury, the LAPD's actions, and OJ's life in general.
