Transformers The Last Knight - 2/10

strawberry floating. Awful. Dialogue was atrociously bad. Editing was all over the place. Pacing was dreadful. Prime is barely in the strawberry floating thing. The badguy is barely in the strawberry floating thing. The plot is completely nonsensical, requires a huge expending of belief and retconned a bunch of crap from the previous movies. Pointless girl character who was pointless. PRIME WAS BARELY IN THE THING.

THE EARTH REVEAL. As a massive fan of the 1986 film, this is so unbelievably retarded

Worst movie I have seen in years.

Mine too. I had such high hopes for Bond after CR but it all went downhill after that with Craig in my opinion.

Nightcrawler - 7/10

Slightly disappointed by this. Had no idea what it was about, but I'd heard lots of good things, so was looking forward to watching. I mean it was decent, but it took a long, long time to get going, and the only really interesting bit was the final third. Gyllenhaal was good/intense as always, and Riz Ahmed was solid too, and some nice shots of the car chases/crashes and a lovely soundtrack added to the experience, but ultimately it all fell a bit flat. The best scenes were the crimes/filming/car chases, but the news channel side of it seemed to dominate the whole thing. And bits like the 'relationship' between Lou and the news director was just...I mean who gives a gooseberry fool. It didn't add anything to the film and just detracted from time that could've been spent on better things. Ultimately decent but nothing special, and falls short of what it could perhaps have been.

It's not even hyperbole. This movie was actually atrocious.

How can you continually strawberry float this franchise up.

I watched the first movie, realised it was dreadful and stopped there. Why do you guys keep watching them? You know they're bound to be gooseberry fool.

I have no idea how they're still going.

How many are there now?

As a lover of the transformers universe there is some joy to be found on seeing huge robots fight. But yeah, terrible franchise and the future plans... Bumblebee spin off, part 6 and Gi Joe crossover means no chance of a true G1 reboot for at least 10 years.

I really liked Wonder Woman but the ending just felt a bit too formulaic and contrived -reminded me of the snore fest fight at the end of MoS. Nowhere near as bad, though. Otherwise loved it. She is wonderful as lead. As is Chris Pine backing her up. Funny and charming. Highly recommended if you like the genre and have been underwhelmed by DC so far. Although who hasn't.

The TV series, Sarah Connor Chronicles, had human collaborators working with the machines. It was far more interesting than anything 3, Salvation or Genesys came up with.

It was a great show which unfortunately ended on a cliffhanger due to its cancellation.

I don't actually know how such a great show based on an extremely popular franchise managed to tank so badly.

I was even more shocked when no-one picked it up for 3rd season.

Gifted

Pretty enjoyable, quite emotional as well.

My Cousin Rachel

Bit of a case of blue balls, this one. I wouldn't watch it again.

Got very excited when I saw a trailer for Murder on the Orient Express and that was followed up with a stunning trailer for Dunkirk. It looks incredibly good.

Assassins Creed - 3/10, drivel - had to watch it twice as first time fell asleep after 35 minutes.

Mullholland Drive - ?/10 - enjoyed the ride but wtf was that all about.

My Scientology Film by Louis Theroux - 8/10 - brilliant if you like Theroux you will love this, how an earth does someone like Tom Cruise get involved in something like this :fp:

Now You See Me 2 - 5/10, barely coherent sequel loved the 1st, felt very let down by this and no Isla Fisher :(

Passengers - 6/10, Michael Sheen is fantastic in this and would have liked to have seen Lawrence and Pratt's
final days on the ship

Railroad Tigers - 7/10, enjoyable Asian made Jackie Chan flick, one of his best over recent years.

The Take (aka Bastille Day) - 8/10, solid action film that is basically a feature length episode of Luther.

Tower Heist - 6/10 - not a fan of Ben Stiller but gave this a try because of the cast and wasn't disappointed.

Transformers 5, the last knight - 3/10. But did I enjoy? Yes I did. And I would give it ther watch. As usual the effects are amazing however the story telling was possibly the worst yet. It felt all over the place, at times it felt like bits of the film were missing. One think that bothered me was the costant changes of wardrobe by the main characters in between scenes. They would jump in a car, or on a plane and when they get out they are wearing different clothes. I've heard talk that up to 40 mins of footage was cut which would explain a lot of the problems. A lack of closer on a number of scenes was also annoying, particularly fight scenes. You rarely saw a conclusion to a battle and then characters like grimlock just vanished, never to be seen again. The film felt like bay spent a massive amount of money shooting big explosive scenes and then paramount told him that there was enough money left to finish off the cgi so they just cut big scenes.

Overall I think it needs a reboot. Five films in ten years is god going for a franchise. Most established franchises only get 3 films if they are lucky before being rebooted. However that's clearly not happening soon as there is at least a bumblebee prequel in the works. Which I hope may actually be better as Michael bay is currently not involved.

A bright note though was Anthony Hopkins, who seemed to have a blast making the film.

The Belko Experiment 8/10. That was a whole lotta fun. Think Battle Royale meets Die Hard by way of Cabin In The Woods written by James Gunn. It was right up my alley. Great cast of recognizable character actors and some highly entertaining violence. I loved it.

Very recommended.

The Thing (John Carpenter's) 10/10

A regular watch, but it never stops being as entertaining, or disturbing, as the first time I saw it. The effects are still strawberry floating amazing and really have not aged at all. The physical presence of these monstrosities trumps any CGI I've ever seen. And young Keith David

Man that show was ace. So pissed off with the cancellation, it ended at a really interesting place.

Get Out - 9/10

Thoroughly enjoyed this, it was tense, creepy and made me feel quite uncomfortable at times, in places it almost reminded me of the Shining in that regard. Some elements were perhaps a little predictable such as Rose being in on the whole thing. but didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the film.
