Last film you watched and your rating: The Directors Cut

Thor Ragnorok. 7/10. It was good but I wanted to like it a bit more. The humour got some special attention, and yes there were a lot of funny lines/moments (especially when Jeff Goldblum's character was involved) but I found it a bit weary after a while. I would have preferred a bit more of a serious tone, just a bit, especially so it was a bit more consistent with the prior two films. There's a scene where a seemingly innocent alien is obliterated next to Thor and they're rather flippant about it, joking about the smell his guts leave behind, Thor grossed out but not really angered or disgusted by this murder.

Enjoyed the characters though. Hela was great. I liked what they did with Loki. Was nice to have Hulk there but at the same time not have the film devolve into Avengers Lite.

The Harry Hill Movie.

It was actually really good. The plot is pretty non-existent, but I found it really funny throughout, with Hill's trademark craziness. Solid 8/10

Baby Driver - 9/10

Such a good film (aside from Kevin Spacey), soundtrack is excellent too.

I've finished King Arthur: Legend of the sword finally. What a load of gooseberry fool / ten

Decided he was going to die for Baby near the end of the film. That didn't fit with anything at all and seemed out of place. I thought Baby was just paying debts off to him?

Had my eye on this for a while after seeing Mark Kermode getting excited about it back on release. And it did not disappoint one bit. Superb central performances accompany a Carrie-esque coming of age tale which is disturbing, gruesome and bloody marvellous.

Also, First Kill

Anakin Skywalker tries to find his kidnapped son while Bruce Willis chases him down. Mostly crap.

Justice League - 6/10

Bit of a mess, but not as terrible as I was expecting. Considering the budget though the CGI was ropey in lots of places.

+ Gal Gadot is a total babe
+ Aquaman was alright
+ Flash was alright
+ Some nice effects

- Batman didn’t do much, and he looked far too heavy
- Cyborg was lame
- Parademons were lame
- Steppenwolf was lame
- Music was all over the place
- too much green screen and reshot scenes, very obvious when it was done too.

3 Billboards - 9/10

Really, really good. Loved the performance from the lead (can't remember her name), very funny, very sad and pretty brutal.

The Shape of Water - 8/10

Again, really good, just didn't think it was as good as everyone seemed to be raving on about. Loved the "baddy" though (guy from Boardwalk Empire), he was great. Deaf lady also had a nice arse.

A Ghost Story - 3/10

Pretentious twoddle. Lingering shots of nothing. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood. I also couldn't understand a word Casey Affleck was saying.

When i read the synopsis, it sounded quite interesting, but the reviews have put me off completely.

Thor Ragnarok. God of Thunder/10. I loved it, such an entertaining film full of jokes. One of my favourites easily of the MCU.

It's pretty brilliant. I can see why some people might wrongly think of it as 'pretentious twoddle', but it isn't.


White House Down - 7/10

This comes so close to being an amazing spiritual successor to Die Hard. If it had more one liners, was more violent and didn't have the most laughably cheesy ending of all time it would be there.

Been slowly getting through rewatching all the MCU films. I’ve currently watched from Iron man to Thor Dark World.

Avengers is the best of the lot so far for me. It just a really fun film and always love me some Loki. It’s also good seeing all the early interactions between the avengers.

The first Iron Man, Captain America & Thor films were all good. Iron Mans fight at the end was a bit boring though. Captain America was good but felt like it was missing something and Thor was good but like Captain America felt like it was missing something.

Iron Man 2 & 3 I liked them both about the same. Not as good as the first and honestly pretty forgettable as I barely remember anything about them. I did enjoy watching them at the time of watching so they weren’t boring at least.

Thor the Dark World is pretty meh. I think having to bring Jane and Earth into the film kinda made it more worse. The villains weren’t very interesting and it felt like he went down too easily. Me and my girlfriend did have fun making up our own motives for the elves by just listening to what they said. Pretty sure they wanted a lot of viagra or something.

Hulk actually still gotta finish this one. Saw about 30 min of it and the girlfriend got bored so we skipped. I didn’t mind what I saw but from what I remember of watching it years ago it was pretty dull.

Now to gradually finish the rest before infinity wars.

Was it the Ed Norton one? Or the Eric Bana one? The latter isn't part of the MCU.

Ed Norton one, forgot whatever sub title it had. Still want to get round to rewatching it all but also so much more used to Ruffalo as Bruce now.

I remember watching the Eric Bana one at the cinema, half the audience ended up walking out.

Still, watched The Shaun The Sheep Movie today, 8/10, absolutely packed with slapstick and sight gags.

Atari: Game Over.

Not exactly a film, more of a documentary weighing in at just over an hour. For anyone who grew up during the Atari VCS era, an interesting piece on the investigation into whether the ET cartridges were really buried in a landfill and the reasons behind it.

I enjoyed it but probably not for everyone. 7

Iron Man 1 is my favourite because I'm a giant Tony Stark nerd and I felt like it captures the character best. I liked that Iron Man 3 dealt with his PTSD and anxiety a bit, but yeah, it was largely forgettable. I don’t think any of the MCU film have been that standout since the early ones, actually. Hopefully Black Panther and Infinity War will change that though.

I didn't enjoy Iron Man 3 or Avengers 2 but Captain America 2&3, Guardians 1&2 and Ant Man were great while Doctor Strange was pretty good. I haven't seen Homecoming or Thor 3 yet but I'm fully aboard the Infinity War hype train now I'm getting back into the Marvel films.
