It was.. okay? I think it was good? I can't tell.
I think I need to watch it again. But, there's a lot that should've been taken out of it. And loads of bits in the trailers just flat out weren't in the film

I'm not disappointed, but... I wish it were better. :simper:

I thought it was good but it was very slow, lacked a lot of actual ghost busting as well. They needed a montage of the new family actually doing day to day GB stuff like the first movie had.

TMNT-Mutant Mayhem 7/10

I enjoyed this for the most part. The animation was amazing, as was the score/soundtrack. But the writing wasn't great at times-the constant pop culture references got a bit much and almost felt like joke substitutes. And a lot of the jokes they did have weren't as clever as they thought. Also thought rhe VA was inconsistent, Ice Cube was perfect casting and Paul Rudd was a lot of fun but the turtles, while good performances in themselves, were too similar and didn't stand out enough individually especially when they were speaking over each other. Also, Jackie Chan was very one note as splinter and hard to understand at times. I'm probably being a tad too critical though (and I'm conscious I'm probably a bit on the old side for this as it was very much a Gen Z TMNT) as when it was good, it was really good. The No Diggity montage action sequence, shot like a 2D side scroller, was absolutely sublime.

Total Recall - 7/10

Another of those Schwarzenegger classics i've not gotten around to seeing until now. Was good fun too, and Michael Ironside always gives a top performance.

Yeah I love just how unhinged Ironside is in that film.

Hopefully he had a good time at the party at the end of the film.

Ironside is forever reliably an amazing baddie :toot:

Get Carter (1971)

A bit plodding and convoluted, but when it hits it really hits. Some superbly chilling shots, editing choices and performances. You don't need me to tell you that Caine is on fire here!

All in service of it possibly being the coldest film I've ever seen :simper: in that specific way that seems to really typify 70s movies

Planet Terror - 4/10
Yeah, this wasn't very good. It had gore, but very little else of note. Rose McGowan isn't a good actress, let alone for a lead here, and none of the other characters were interesting either. An odd one, as I'm not really sure what they were going for, but it's very forgettable.

Dune Part Two - 10/10

Absolutely loved this, rewatched Part One last night (enjoyed that just as much as my first viewing), this is one of those films that needs to be seen on the big screen, it looks superb, the soundtrack is superb. The acting from the leading roles was great, loved the different aspects of the story, both the political and religious elements of it. Just a great film all round, think the only thing I could mark it down for was how quickly Paul goes from not believing in the prophecy to be 200% on board with it

Edit, although I’m not sure if Paul is internally convinced about being the messiah, or more using it as an advantage to lead the Freman to achieve his goals.

I’m guessing there is going to be a Dune Part Three?

...and it was still ten times better than Death Proof.

I quite like the early Bond films, they seem more grounded and haven't gone completely ott like some from the 70's/80's/90's.

The third film hasn't been officially greenlit but Zimmer is already composing for it.
Paul doesn't believe in the prophecy, he knows the Bene Gesserit created it to control people once their eugenics experiment had completed and they'd bred a superbeing. He was conflicted about using it to manipulate the fremen and start a jihad which would kill billions of people.

Box office for the second has surpassed the first so a third is going to happen.

Edit - potentially a spoiler for the next film, although it was outlined in Part 2 :shifty: read at your own risk.

He doesn't believe in the Fremen prophecy, but he does believe in the idea that he has to lead a movement that will kill billions of people (committing several planetary genocides along the way) in order to save humanity. I think so, anyway... I didn't read the books that long ago, but I can't be confident I fully understood it even at the time :slol:.

Yeah he can see the future and has chosen a course of action which he thinks is best for the universe. And yet will still kill billions of people.
