Dune 2 is better, Part 1 just ends. Because they literally just stop in the middle of the book.

The third film hasn't been officially greenlit but Zimmer is already composing for it.
Paul doesn't believe in the prophecy, he knows the Bene Gesserit created it to control people once their eugenics experiment had completed and they'd bred a superbeing. He was conflicted about using it to manipulate the fremen and start a jihad which would kill billions of people.

He doesn't believe in the Fremen prophecy, but he does believe in the idea that he has to lead a movement that will kill billions of people (committing several planetary genocides along the way) in order to save humanity. I think so, anyway... I didn't read the books that long ago, but I can't be confident I fully understood it even at the time .

Yeah he can see the future and has chosen a course of action which he thinks is best for the universe. And yet will still kill billions of people.

I'm kind of hoping it'll be explained more in the books, I do have the first trilogy just waiting to be picked up (not bought the second trilogy yet mind), really should find the motivation to get around to starting it really. Thanks for the spoilered info as well.

I still need to read 5 and 6, but I've got plenty of other books ahead of them in the queue. Not exactly desperate to jump into them, having read some general impressions about how it all gets a bit silly.

Book 2, from what I recall, will be a challenge to adapt into an entertaining film. Book 3 is much more suited to the screen, and could be great. Book 4 is actually very interesting, but again as with Book 2 I'm struggling to imagine it translating very well.

They'll lose Villeneuve after film 3 too I reckon-he'll complete his "trilogy" and then move on.

How many books does the first couple of films cover? Guessing one? Maybe a little into the second?

I've been told that the 6 books by the original author are much better than the other ones, so when I do get round to it, I'll probably just read those 6 and call it a day.

Horror movie set in a haunted house that is run by creepy clowns. Way better than I expected it to be. Would recommend.

Godzilla X Kong - The New Empire - 8/10

Saw this in IMAX today,

Godzilla X Kong The New Empire is the latest Monsterverse movie, following on from Godzilla, Kong Skull Island, Godzilla King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs Kong.

It's a ridiculously great time to be a monster fan but Godzilla Minus One (the latest Japanese Godzilla movie from TOHO) was only released a few months ago, it showed that Godzilla could win Oscars in Japan and the West. This is now trying to follow up with a big silly movie about a monkey who has a power glove. It's like reviewing the Adam West Batman after just watching The Dark Knight.

Godzilla fans have always moaned about the human characters as they are going to be on screen for most of the run time compared to the monsters and they often are only used to tell the audience what is going on. A few minutes movies have had great human bits like Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah, Godzilla vs Biollante or Skull Island but its rare.

So Godzilla X Kong is a big silly movie. It has a lot of monster action and a lot of screen time for the monsters, probably more than the human characters. They do a very smart thing of introducing more of Kong's species who are very expressive and so add a lot to the film.

Pacing is well done and it moved along without any boring bits as every few minutes its back to Kong or some other monster action.

Godzilla is more of a second star, much like when a Hollywood big name gets first billing but is not in it much. Godzilla does get time to shine but its Kong's film.

The new big bad is excellent and easily the most hateable bad guy so far in the Monsterverse.

Suko the mini ape is very likeable and has some great moments.

I really enjoyed the film, it is silly and embraces the fun of giant monsters rather than the horror Godzilla Minus One did.

It also looks excellent on IMAX, big, bright and some beautiful shots of hollow earth.

True Lies - 10/10

My blu ray/4k set arrived early!

Even after all these years, i still absolutely adore this movie, it is to me, one of Schwarzenegger's best (the supporting cast is also ace, especially the always excellent Art Malik) and is relentlessly entertaining throughout.

X-Men Origins Wolverine

This was so trashy but nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Gambit was rubbish though. And I can't even begin to imagine what they were thinking with Deadpool. Would love to know what discussions were had behind the scenes that led to that abomination

I just found it dull af.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 - 6/10 - honestly, for what it is, it's half decent. it's a whoooooole lot better than the first one at the very least, acting is better and i do like practical effects for the gore. brutal kills in this one to, very brutal.

Wish - 8/10

This one seemed to fly under the radar when it first came out, yet I really enjoyed it.

The animation is gorgeous, the songs were fun (though not quite as catchy as those found in frozen or moana), the story was decent and the characters were likeable (plus there were a whole bunch of Disney 100 references/cameos/Easter eggs dotted throughout).

Definitely worth a look if you're up for a bit if Disney magic.

The Creator 5/10

Great concept and aesthetic but the story and script was pretty poor. Very predictable with lots of well trodden clichés. Also, felt like they tried to cram a trilogy worth of story into 1 at the sacrifice of character development. Didn't buy the relationship building between the protagonists at all, which didn't help the finale (which in itself was pretty dumb). Also, the USS Nomad-cool design but is it in orbit or at cloud level? Does it move at lightspeed or very slowly? Whatever the plot requires apparently.

I too would give The Creator 5/10 for exactly the same reasons, sadly

It feels like such a waste...Gareth Edwards' films are amazing on a technical level, yet they're always so emotionally unengaging. It's the same issue with Godzilla 2014 and Rogue One.

I think Monsters may still be my favourite of his, it at least managed to hit a little bit on that front
