The Incredibles 2.
Mixed, but when it works it really, really works. A fitting sequel. I'm leaning towards an 8.

It's both amazing and gooseberry fool. It has the spirit and a very strong cast . They filmed everything with practical effects..... Then the studio said re do all the effects with CGI. So we get some good stuff, some gooseberry fool stuff and a cgi monster at the end that should be in a ps2 game. Huge shame as with practical effects it would have been wonderful. Still worth a watch for the very end scenes which tie it all together.

Where do you weigh in on Gandalf's theory about the ending?

End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

It’s a nice thought, but I don’t know what that’s got to do with The Thing.

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Not quite the intimately detailed biopic I was hoping for, but still a fantastically entertaining 'Best Of' medley. I didn't know Rami Malek was playing Freddie until I sat through the opening credits, but having seen his performance I honestly can't conjure up anyone else for the role.

Mike Myers' cameo was great, too. And yes, they did make a Wayne's World joke.

Antman and the Wasp - 7/10

I enjoyed this but it wasn’t as good as the first and suffered badly from following Infinity War. And they really need to stop saying “quantum” every other word.

I don't think gandalfs theory stacks up. I watched the film a couple of months ago and you can clearly see the breath coming from child's.

The ending is supposed to be ambiguous. I've seen a theory that MacReady actually gives Childs a bottle filled with gasoline or something and Childs drinks it anyway because he's The Thing, talk about overthinking it  :fp:

Didn't they film like four different endings to The Thing? I seem to recall nobody really being happy with how it all turned out and that the studio weren't keen on an ending that was either too bleak or ambiguous?

I think the first time it aired on TV it had an alternate ending with Mac getting treated at McMurdo with no sign of Childs if I'm remembering it right. Going to have to Google that now as I don't think that ending appeared on any release bar terrestrial TV.

There was an amazing 4 part graphic novel sequel to the thing released in the 90s. Genuinely amazing stuff, very hard to track down and very expensive to buy.

Bohemian Rhapsody - 8/10

Bloody lovely. If it wasn't for Bradley Cooper and a Star is Born then Freddie would have led to an Oscar for best male.

Amazing music, well made, moving and well paced. I didn't know Bryan Singer directed it until I saw his name in the credits at the start. Keeping a low profile these days.

Well worth a watch, Live Aid was so good, just like an action scene at the end of an action film, huge build up and massive pay off.

I had them along with the follow up comics with Mac chasing down The Thing in New Zealand or somewhere and Things attacking each other. Gave them away I think, which was stupid seeing as I'm a huge JC's The Thing fan. Hoping I didn't and that they are boxed up somewhere in the attic but have this feeling i got shut of them with a box full of comics to charity :fp:

(Childs was assimilated at some point in the comics but not during the ending of the movie - in the comics Childs leaves Mac and sends a rescue team to collect him)

Venom. As a pretty trashy film I found it to be enjoyable. Also Venom himself looked great, which pleases me especially as a Spidey fanboy, and I liked the Eddie-Venom relationship. Was not really planning on seeing the film at the cinema since I was hearing terrible things about it. Relieved I at least wasn't bored watching it.

I went to the cinema today to see The First Man and I thought it was excellent.

It shows just how much tragedy was needed to be endured for the mission to the Moon to succeed and does in a sympathetic way without being over the top. Well worth 2 hours of anyone's time as even people who don't generally like any film to do with space stuff will find this interesting I think.

10/10 I can't really think of anything I can criticise with this film.
