Justice League - 3/10

What an appalling film. The only good thing about it was it makes Batman V Superman look better.

What didn't you like about it? I'm genuinely baffled at the reception, I mean it's not great but it's a pretty standard superhero movie.

I hated pretty much everything about it. Wonder Woman and the Flash were ok, everything else was awful. I’m honestly struggling to think of anything good about it.

It didn’t help that every time the bad guy was mentioned I started singing “Born to be Wild” to myself.

Do you like the Marvel films? I can't think of anything that was drastically worse than say Avengers 2 or Iron Man 3.

Enough people didn't like it that I realise I'm the outlier here, I really didn't think it was.that bad. Everything fit with how I imagine those characters and the world with maybe the exception of Aquaman, I can only assume that they are aware that they need to differentiate the lesser known characters from the Marvel ones.

I like the Marvel films. All of them (even Iron Man 2) are much (much much!) better than this.

Yeah, I really don't get it at all. I really like the Marvel films but this is soooooo similar I just don't understand how it can be considered so inferior.

The DC films are not really similar to the Marvel ones, other than having superheroes.

I guess we are not going to agree but I thought Justice League was one of the worst superhero movies I’ve ever seen. It’s down there with the recent Fantastic Four.

I'd agree with the other DC films but I felt JL was much closer to the Marvel films in structure.

I'm not going to get too worked up defending strawberry floating Justice League of all things, it just interests me why people seem to dislike it so passionately.

I agree, don't get the hate and IMDB rating of 6.6/45 suggests that most are ok with it. But people don't need to justify their ratings because it is their view.

Yes?

I couldn't make it past that opening sequence with Batman fighting that insect (or whatever) bad guy in JL. The previous terrible films from DC meant that I went into JL with very little willpower to stick through anything bad but even I wasn't expecting to need to bail within 10 minutes!

When I really do have enough time to spare that I don't mind potentially wasting it I will go back and give the film another go, but I can't see that happening any time soon!

The Hateful Eight - 7/10

+ Good soundtrack
+ Some good performances (Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bechir)
+ Funnier than I expected it to be
+ I liked the premise
+ Generally liked the execution of it all

- Didn't need to be 3 hours long
- The pointless narration (I'm sure some Tarantino fan somewhere hails it as genius, but I didn't see the point)
- Samuel L Jackson. He basically plays the same character in every film (that I've seen him in). Very tiresome.

Wasn't as much of a fan of the original as most. Found this much better if a little overlong towards the end. Consistently funny, warm in tone and with more convincing camaraderie between everyone. For me this was the feel-good blast everyone else made the first out to be :D

Not sure i'd rate it that highly, towards the end it just descended into a CGI trifle.

Nah, it wasn't that bad, especially when compared to the steaming pile of turd that was the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie.

Yeah, Tarantino definitely needs to hire an editor.

That said, i've not really enjoyed any of his movies since Kill Bill.

Let The Right One In - 8/10

Swedish Vampire Film I’d heard was great for years but only got round to watching now on Prime. Young lad is getting bullied and has no friends meets a young girl but not all is as it seems.

Hope there is a sequel eventually; heard there was a remake.

One of the best vampire films I’ve seen in a long time.

There's a Hollywood remake called 'Let Me In' but - as usual - it's pretty gooseberry fool compared to the original.

That opening was one of the best scenes in my opinion, alongside Wonder Woman's earlier set-piece and the amazon's struggle to protect their mother box from Steppenwolf. Overall though, it was a disappointing film; with such garish CGI and a villain whose backstory had been cut out of the film entirely, it can't justify being in the same league as Marvel's output.

Although I'd take JL over Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World any day of the week.

Just a daft question; does anyone keep a list of films they've seen or score them on iMDB?

I've just hit 1,500 rated [I don't write reviews; just score the films with a number on iMDB] and at the age of 35 I'd thought I'd seen a hell of a lot more, bit of a surprise

Nah, Daredevil was even worse than The Amazing Spiderman (though not quite as pointless).
