Sorry missed this one. Utter bollocks and one of the stupidest posts you’ve made on this board. Let’s face it - that’s up against some stunning competition.

I'm quite proud of that post actually. The lyrics of the song serve as a sort of stealthy 'take that', boosting its core relevance and making it a solid 8/10.

Blimey, this makes your ability to overlook the obvious flaws in TLJ all the more baffling

The Shawshank Redemption - 10/10

Every time is always as good as the first.

Solid movie, but it's no 10/10.

That's reserved for movies of Mamma Mia 2 calibre. :datass:

I bloody loved it. More emotional than the first with some good comedy and amazing music. Almost brought me to tears at the end too. Not had that happen in a cinema since La La Land.

Just a lovely movie with an excellent cast.

Yes! :toot:

On reflection I'm upping my score from 9 to 10/10 as well. It was just a fantastic way to spend 2 hours. The original was great fun but this really puts the shine on the formula, and as you say makes great strides by including a much more emotional core to the story this time.

And I've no problems admitting that I was more than a little teary at the end.

Do they use different songs in this one?

They use a few new ones, I believe some were written by the guys for the film too. They re use a few but for different characters and it works.

I didn't realise the leading lady is the girl from Baby Driver. She is brilliant in this and shows she is destined to be a huge star.

The comedy is what really shines. It's very well balanced and witty.

I'll go see it again this week.

When I left the cinema last night the atmosphere was more like leaving a gig with everyone buzzing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a part 3 as there is 20 years in between the stories that hasn't been covered.

Wish my image sig would work

I would agree that Begins is the best Nolan-man film, it's certainly the one which feels the most refined to me.

TDK was bloated and could have done with longer in the editing room, DKR was just bad for so many reasons.

10/10 for Mama Mia 2?

It's the new standard against which all films must be judged. From now on all films will be rated as a percentage of how close they come to achieving parity with Mamma Mia 2.

DKR is a good superhero movie. It’s nowhere near the league of TDK or Begins, but very few superhero movies are.

I genuinely did not enjoy DKR so would disagree on that, it's obviously not DCEU (or World's of DC or whatever they've branded it as now!) levels of terrible but I have zero desire to watch it again. In fact I had little desire to see it through to the end in the first place.

But then I'm not a huge fan of the trilogy, or Nolan's work in general, I think it's all very overrated and my dislike of DKR probably has a certain element of reaction to the bewildering level of adoration that TDK received post release than necessarily an objective judgement of that film in its own right.

There are many superhero movies I would watch before wanting to go back to any of Nolan's work.

I forced myself to watch Lost in Translation, having turned it off halfway through a few years ago.

It looks lovely, shot really well. Absolutely gooseberry fool in every other respect. Honestly can't see how it gained the acclaim it has.
