Tomb Raider (new one)

7/10

It was basically Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but at least they ripped off a great film.

Saw Mortal Engines last night, really enjoyed it. I'm sure you can pick out problems with the script and pacing, but as an adaptation of the book it nails it. It's the only example I can think of where I've gone into a film and it has looked exactly as I imagined it from reading the books first

This is a joke post right

An American werewolf in London. I must have seen it years ago as I remembered so much of it but that was the first time I really watched it and WOW,that was awesome. Well acted, unique, great soundtrack, totally horrific but totally funny, not to mention charming and sad.

A truly wonderful horror film that stands the test of time.

Videodrome

Been meaning to watch this for ages and I'm glad I finally did. Amazing film and it still felt super relevant if you applied the themes to today's world of YouTubers. The special effects beat anything you can show me in today's CGI fests too, truly unsettling.

Venom - 7/10

This is objectively a terrible movie but I couldn’t help enjoying it.

The Terminator - 8/10

Kinda dated looking now, and a bit silly in places. But still a great action movie.

T2 completely outclasses it in many areas though.

I still prefer the first one, T2 is great but there's just something special about the original.

The strangers prey at night. Totally watchable and more intense than the first one but don't expect your mind to be blown.

There is a roughness to the original that is missing in T2. Both are fantastic though, lets face it.

The original also has the benefit of being the longest movie ever made, and is still yet to finish in fact.

Apparently it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead. :slol:

I just couldn't get over Sarah Connor saying about the love between her and Kyle. YOU'VE ONLY KNOWN HIM ONE DAY AND A BIT. And he was wearing homeless trousers!

Yeah but he's a proper fitty. You can see why Sarah would want to lock that down.

Christopher Robin

8/10

Such a charming and likeable movie, Ewan McGregor is on top form, while Pooh & friends are delightful.

What the strawberry float ! This should have been crap. I was promised a crap DC film but instead they actually did it.

I've seen people compare it to Black Panther but it's more of it's own thing.

So here goes.... Firstly the effects are stunning, really well filmed action and all used to further the plot.

Amazing creature design too.

Music is very good and some very random music choices.

Cast are all great with the best being some of the support, Dolf, Dafoe and Kidman.

The action scenes are really well done, comic book but grounded. Black Manta is awesome and has a very good origin story too.

The best thing about the film is it's so proud of what it is. If you look at GI Joe (first film) or Transformers, they act like they are ashamed of the source material. X-Men movies do this too changing the suit colours as they can't embrace it.

This is the opposite.

The tone is similar to The Mummy, fun, silly, serious, scary and very well filmed.

It's worth seeing on the big screen too.

The third act of the film is excellent, unlike Wonder woman or black panther which loses something in cgi chaos. This has a big cgi sea battle, but it's well done. Very well done.

After Spider-Man - into the spider-verse, this is the biggest surprise of the year.

DC actually did something right. I'm going to see it again soon and I'm looking forward to it. Big, bold, fun, exciting, original, world building and different.

Only real negative is a few killer shots are in the trailer, but a lot of good stuff is left out. And I would have liked more of a link to DC universe but I think keeping it out was intentional.

Did we see different films? I've never rolled my eyes as much as I have watching a film as I did at Aquaman.

There were so many parts of it that were incredibly cliché, or treated the viewers like idiots or just flat out didn't make sense.

That strawberry floating flashback to him talking to the shark as a kid right at the end of the film, strawberry floating so dumb, made me laugh out loud it the cinema.

I really loved it. But I can see why people would hate it too. It's big and silly but confident with it.

Wish my image sig would work

I didn't hate it, it was just one of those films that was so predictable and average that I didn't get any enjoyment from it. I've literally already forgotten most of the plot

And it just seemed to want to treat the audience like a bunch of idiots.
