Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - 7/10

Utter nonsense, but it was mostly enjoyable nonsense. The ending is stupid.

Felt like a re-tread of Lost World in a few ways. Goldblum was wasted and his last line was just :dread:

Some decent moments though.

Resident Evil - 6/10

I'd seen most of this before, but not sure I'd seen it all the way through. Does itself a favour by not mirroring what happened in the games, and it's reasonably entertaining. Interesting to spot references to the games. Terrible CGI though and some poor acting in places. I wonder if Michelle Rodriguez has some kind of contractual obligation that stipulates that she has to play a moody bitch in every film she's in.

1984 - 7/10

Some good performances in this, especially from John Hurt near the end. It's kinda dated in some ways, the soundtrack doesn't really fit at times. But it does a remarkable job of portraying just how bleak the world is. It provably wouldn't be interesting or understandable if you haven't read the book.

Also took me a while to realise that one the characters is played by the same lad who played Rab C Nesbitt. That was weird.

Return of the living dead. As a huge zombie fan I've no idea how I'd never seen this before.

Plain and simply,it was awesome.

Is that the ridiculous one where the Zombies eat the teenagers and then eat the emergency services when they turn up and a zombie gets on the radio and asks them to 'Send more Paramedics'?

Sequel is also worth a watch. Featuring some of the original cast in a brilliant cameo. Part 3 is fun and has some amazing effects. 4 and 5 are gooseberry fool but watchable.

Saw the new Deadpool and Jurassic Park films recently. Thought they were both solid 7.5/10 films, decent watches.

I also saw the Incredibles 2 a few days ago as it was the Cineworld secret screening. It was great fun. Loved hearing the voices of Mike and Saul . Some good laughs scattered around and a positive feminist message running throughout that manages to pull up just short of being too preachy.

Blade Runner 2049

I thought it was right good and I was surprised how good a sequel it was to the original. I don't quite know what I was expecting but I never thought modern producers would allow a big film like this to be paced like it was and have as little action as it did. Very pleasantly surprised. The set pieces, music and themes were incredible. It's definitely gonna stick with me a while.

Gotta rewatch the original now.

What is this secret screening that you speak of?

Every now and then, Cineworld screens a film that is a secret right up until the classification screen immediately before the film starts. It will always be a film that is still a few weeks away from general release.

They also tend to put treats on, for example at the Incredibles 2 there was free Pepsi Max going, along with a 'fresh' buffet provided by Café Rouge. I always take full advantage :shifty:.

I’ve never heard of it. Do you have to be an unlimited member and is it only at selected cinema’s? Is it a normal admission price?

It is exclusive to Unlimited members. Entry price is free (read: included within the subscription).

Not sure if it's only at selected cinemas but it could well be. My local is a big one in a prime location.

Ah right. I’m not a member. I’ve often thought about doing it but I tend to go to vue. We have a cineworld and vue in our town. I usually buy £40 worth of gift vouchers for £33.99 from Costco and go on super Mondays (£3.99) or meerkat movies if I’m going with wife/son. If all else fails then they do police discount so I can get student price. Due to this I think it would cost me more to be an unlimited member.
