Skyscraper - 9/10

This is a very big and enjoyable movie. The rock is awesome as always, supporting cast all good and effects are excellent. It's basically a nod to past classics and big fun 80s films.

The idea is The Towering Inferno meets Die Hard meets Commando. The bad guy even dresses and looks like one of the guys from Commando.

Much like Rampage its fun and very watchable.

And they chose such a unique and memorable title for the film. I look forward to the sequel: CAR PARK (working title)

The same can be said for a lot of Dwayne Johnson films; dumb yet enjoyable popcorn fun.

He's the Arnie of our time, but sadly doesn't have (and probably won't ever have) the genre-defining classics in his library that Arnie had to truly cement his legendary action-hero status.

Arnie had the advantage of living in the era when they made proper 18 rated action movies.

Most of the action movies today are 12A or 15 at best.

Dredd?

I was going to say John Wick and The Raid, but they're surprisingly both 15

Watching the trailers for this has been making me think it is either going to be an absolute stinker, or that it's basically going to be the next Die Hard!

Both The Raid and The Raid 2 are 18's. That's what the Blu-ray/DVD covers for them say, as does IMDB.

IT Chapter 1 (2017 ver)

Very good, I was worried about the mostly unknown child actors but they are really good. Harrowing start and it was more disturbing than scary (and I watched it alone with the lights off). Excellent work all round though, Mike the black kid's back story is tiny compared to some others which was disappointing but the girl who played Beverly was superb, the start of a promising career I reckon.

9/10

Jurassic World Forgotten Kingdom.

The story was far too absurd (i know it has Dinosaurs) but action was pretty good. I also have a crush on Bryce Dallas Howard.

6/10

Yet they all have something missing that will make them timeless like the 80's/early 90's action films.

He's a walking charisma machine to be fair to him, I think that helps. Even his awful family comedies are immensely watchable.

By most accounts Skyscraper would be an absolute guaranteed failure if anyone else but him were i it.

Incredibles 2 was an absolute delight. The music was fantastic, and the animation was incredible (sorry), and the action scenes were brilliantly choreographed.

The main villain was a bit predictable, and the conflicts they caused between characters were resolved a bit too quickly, but the concept could have been great with a bit more time invested in it.

Jak-Jak was the star of the show, of course, and his raccoon fight scene was probably the best bit of the film.

Not quite as good as the first, but I still loved it. 8/10
