A lot of it has to do with it following the book to a degree. The book itself is pretty brutal with some major changes made in the film.
In the book Rambo kills all the deputies in the forest, leaving only Sheriff William "Will" Teasle alive. In the end Trautman shoots Rambo in the back of the head as a mercy killing as at this point he [Rambo] is like a rabid dog.

I’ve read it. They changed the ending of the film as someone (possibly Stallone) saw potential for future sequels.

First Blood is a fantastic film, and yes it is so much better than anything that came after it in the series. With the Rocky franchise Stallone managed to keep something of value for a few sequels at least, on Rambo it really is a case of give up after the first one.

Loved this. Hilarious and often very clever dialogue, and the three leads are brilliant.

Agreed, it is an absolute classic.

I really like the Rambo sequels. They are exceptionally silly in places, and not as clever or as thought provoking as First Blood, but they are fun action movies with high body counts. And they do that pretty well, I think.

The third one is peak sillyness. It's hilarious in places. Trautman has some amazing lines in it.

I watched that for the first time the other day and thought it was rubbish. First movie was way better. Gutted.

Thor Ragnorok. It was certainly peculiar for a Thor movie but, more than that, it was genuinely awesome and funny. Great soundtrack, visual aesthetics and action -
when Thor, Banner and Valkyrie arrived at Asgard for the climactic showdown, I felt the hype.

Also Korg.

8.5/10

Prisoners (2013) - ****
On the surface, a tense and atmospheric thriller, executed well enough to carry the film on its own, but there's a lot of interesting subtext to delve into underneath without it being overwrought. Great acting across the board, with Jake Gyllenhaal being the standout, and they manage to create some beautiful shots despite the film being set in a limited amount of locations, most of them mundane at face value. It's on the cusp of being a five star film for me already, and I could easily see myself enjoying it even more upon second viewing, pushing it over the edge.

Amélie (2001) - ****
Whimsical, incredibly charming, and containing enough of a positive spirit to actually lift me out of the low mood I was in today. Also funnier than I expected it to be.

Audrey Tautou is cute as hell.

Curse of Chucky - 9/10

A genius movie that ties together the franchise and sets up the final part brilliantly. Well worth a watch.

Black Mass.

The story of Boston crime Lord, Jimmy "Whitey" Bulger.

Watched it a few time since its release and it never fails to make an impact. Johnny Depp's finest performance in years.

Marvellous gangster flick.

9/10

Prisoners is a great movie full of really amazing performances that really make it so tense and gripping. In addition to JG, I thought Paul Dano was absolutely superb.

Deadpool 2 - 9/10

I loved this. My cinema was oddly very quiet, and felt like it was just me enjoying it a lot of the time. I don't know if people were missing a lot of the gags but I laughed all the way through. Ryan Reynolds has really made the character his own, I'd put this on a par with the first for sure.

From what they've said, they're looking to do an X-Force film next. Looking forward to more of Deadpool and Cable's love/hate relationship....

Saw it yesterday as well. Really enjoyed it. Definitely as good as the first one. Just felt like the films rolled straight into each other as well which was great.

Excellent film making Chucky scary again and closing the series on a high.

I felt the film overall was missing something, but I certainly enjoyed it a lot and you're right, Depp is absolutely fantastic. I was very impressed by his performance.

Bullshit, this is his best ever performance.

Jurassic World - Fallen Kingdom - 8/10

Soooooo. After the success of Jurassic World this had a lot to live up to. The trailers are bloody terrible showing the ending of scenes and a very meh plot.

The film is actually really enjoyable. A lot of little horror nods such as light flashes being used to reveal creatures. The first part of the film is set on the island and has some good moments with lots of nods and lots of dinosaurs. Plus amazing effects.

After this.... It feels like Jurassic Park 2. Mostly due to similar plot beats to it.

It's not terrible or boring, but it feels like a wasted opportunity as much like King Kong (2005) the island makes for more fun than a boat or a mansion.

The film does use Blue very well. And Bryce is so pretty she is almost distracting.

The film sets things up for a very interesting 3rd film. Which will really be something very different.

I really enjoyed it. But felt like the first half was infinitely better than the second. Which is obvious and a bit flat.

Great amount of dinosaurs though and a very strong opening.

Is it better than Jurassic World? As that was absolutely awful.
