The other thing about Star Wars fanboys is that they are so easy to wind up.

That's all we need to know Hexx. You don't have to say anything else.

Phantom Menace does have its moments (Duel of the Fates will forever be awesome) but we all know that it has issues, with one particular fundamental issue that destroyed any hope of finding it to be a enjoyable and faithful return to the mythos of galaxy people knew and loved. I think we all know what I'm talking about:

That bit where Qui Gon Jinn tries to pay for something with "Imperial Credits" years before the Empire even exists?!?!?! Great work George! Franchise destroyed!

Oh no, I was including Cheeky Devlin in that post. "WHY IS MY HERO THINKING OF KILLING A CHILD! IT'S UNREALISTIC! I PREFERED IT WHEN HE LIVED IN A SWAMP WITH A LITTLE GREEN WIZARD MAN AND MOVED SPACESHIPS WITH HIS MIND"

Perhaps the biggest compliment I can pay it is that I would like to see what is going on with Darth Maul out in the wider Universe, which is more than I can say about anything in Last Jedi.

I cant remember if you have but if not. Watch the Clone Wars TV series.

But again you've missed the point he made.

If they wanted to change Luke - fine. But explain it and have narrative sense. Why has he changed? What took him from the character people last saw to the one he is now. Make the audience follow the journey/believe in it (CD even says bits where he thinks it did this and the key area where it didn't)

The film doesn't do that. It fundamentally alters a character in a massive way with no explanation and then when criticized for it, gets people like you screaming "Shut up Fanboy you just don't like change" completely ignoring what he actually said. It's so annoying.

Whoops! Obviously the film is so bad that it's making me think there was even more wrong with it than I remember! :shifty:

In all honesty I actually have quite a soft spot for TPM, I still think it is the best of the prequels and is the one which "feels" the most Star Wars for me.

I thought that was explained fairly well? He was training a new era of Jedi, one of which, as mentioned, turns out to be space hitler 2.0. Everything that follows afterwards with the attempted murder, and the destruction of Lukes Jedi school, and knowing that his jedi teaching have just ensured yet another galactic war or two and a new sith lord, understandably leaves Luke a little bit miffed and he abandons everything out of fear of his teaching creating even more monsters. I thought it was a perfect setup for him being an angry, isolationist weirdo really. I dont see why thats not good enough motivation for him being "changed", he basically found out everything hed been teaching his student was jsut sending him down the dark side path and startign the Vader cycle all over again, thats a bit of a pisser if youre Luke.

For me it was unrealistic that Luke's first reaction would have been to attack.

Anyway on second viewing I enjoyed the film much more, it was the stupid things like the Leia flying and the prequel-esq parts in the casino that were a bit rubbish.
