The Descendants 7/10
Nice little film. A sad storyline but at the same time the comedy elements in it were good. Makes me wanna go to Hawaii :)

The Artist 7/10 Saw the first 45 minutes and the the final 10  :fp: Due to tiredness not boredom. Was so strawberry floating wrecked. The girlfriend filled me in on the 30 minutes that I missed, but I liked what I saw.

The Grey - 8/10
Thoroughly entertaining. Grim as strawberry float though.

Troll Hunter - I'm not normally too fond of 'found footage' type films (mainly due to the wobbly camera making me feel a bit sick} but I quite enjoyed this.

Tangled

Oh my  Much prefer it to Enchanted, which is quite similar, and I found Rapunzel less annoying than Giselle (though I still  both). Maximus is probably the funniest Disney animal character I can think of (up there with Dug from Up).

Maximus is fantastic  Easily one of the best animals they've done in years.

It is an exceptional film that's for sure. I remeber going to Coney Island and being disappointed I didn't see any 70's punks :( I did see the wheel though

Not sure I'd like to run into any of those gangs on my own tbh.

Only thing that kinda left me hanging is that I was expecting it to have a bit of a science fiction element to it. I thought it was going to be a cross between Mad Max, Blade Runner and Lord of the Flies (doesn't it even say "in the future" at the beginning?), instead it was pretty much just LotF in the ghetto.
But hey, I'm by no means complaining.

One thing about the film, though, I wish there had been a bit of a reaction to curly head Warrior being run over by the subway. Would have been awesome seeing them get revenge on the cops, but instead they didn't even mention it! He just died like that and they didn't even notice.

I think it was just looking at a bleak view of NYC in the future. The 70's was a very dangerous time in the NYC, even in Manhattan, and I guess they wanted to portray it even worse by having gangs pouring all over the city and taking over. Even having giant meetings in parks. I loved the gritty old feel of it. If it was set in some mythical made up super modern future, it just wouldn't have that grittiness I don't think.

As for your second point, yeah that was strange. I remember when I first saw this and just assumed he somehow survived

Plus I find it amusing that the weird rapist one turned out to be the dad in Dexter

Holy crap you're right. I don't care, though, because Dexter turned to gooseberry fool after the first couple seasons.

Asked my staff at work what mighty ducks movie I should watch tonight.

Only 1 out of 8 knew of them.

Are the Ducks a guilty pleasure?

They're an obscure pleasure.

I watched D1 over Christmas. It was awful. I used to love them though, especially as it had Kenan in it. I remember playing NHL games purely to be them in it :fp:

Love everything about it  . I've got the special edition which has a little comic strip included in the film. Kinda cool.

Plus it has Sully from Commando in it. Perfection.
