American Psycho. 6/10.

Some funny moments, but fails to make the points re materialism, isolation and even the 'did any of it really happen' aspect anywhere near as effectively as the book.

I never quite get the love for The Prestige. I mean, Nolan as a director has made a career out of making involving, gripping and actually quite serious movies out of utterly ridiculous premises, but the whole way through The Prestige I just thought 'This is strawberry floating stupid' in a way that I didn't feel about caped crusaders, amnesiac crime fighters and magic dream assassins.

And that ending was pants-on-head retarded.

I can't figure out if it's in theory or in practice I don't like that film.

The story was decent, the twist quite cool, but the whole cloning thing was pretty ruinous.

I think what The Prestige did so well was that the whole transporter/clone thing is a complete sideshow, its irrelevant to the plot of the film, the real reveal that Borden has a twin and has throughout the whole film, is what is supposed to blow your mind.

The fact that Angier goes to such lengths to top what turns out to be such a mundane reality, which as you are told throughout the film is what makes magic work, and then when he realises what he's done...thats the point of the film.

Its a great film.

But its no Dark Knight, better than Begins sure.

But if they could have pulled that off without resorting to sci fi bullshit the film would have been so much better. I'd hardly call it irrelevant to the plot.

You seem very confused here as Batman Begins is superior to The Dark Knight.

This has always confused me, in no world is Begins even half the film TDK is.

I'll admit Begins starts well, but it turns into utter drivel when Liam Neeson gets to Gotham, the whole ending is just terrible. By comparison there isn't one bit of TDK that isn't utterly brilliant, from start to finish theres not one wrong note, its the perfect Batman movie.

Yu-Gi-Oh Bonds Beyond Time (Don't judge me)

4/10 - A good bit of mindless fun if you're a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, and would be a good way to keep the kids quiet for an hour. Might make them pester you to buy cards afterwards though (Meaning the movie has thus achieved its intended purpose, and you have give marks for that)

Friends with benefits - 8/10. A very good enjoyable fun filled film. Not the chick flick I was expecting. Mila kunis naked, a lot. Everything but pussay and nipples. Even timberlake wasn't that annoying.

Would watch again.

Whoa whoa whoa.

I agree with the sentiment, and anyone who prefers Begins is just plain wrong, but let's not get carried away.

Begins is simply a tighter film. TDK might have bettered it with better editing but I think it's undeniable that there's some sloppiness there. They're both amazing films, but Begins edges it for me.

It's not her. :(

The Dark Knight has two real stand out performances in Eckhart and Ledger, but I much prefer Begins as a whole.

Neither are as great as people hyped them up to be when TDK came out though. Good films. Head and shoulders above any other comic book movies. Nothing more than that.

Just watched Oldboy. Jesus christ that was grim. I did not expect the movie to go there. I was prepared for some over the top Asian action stuff like Ichi the Killer or even something like Hardboiled but not this.

The editing and pacing in TDK is freakin' awful. One of the reasons its not as good as BB.

You criticise Batman Begins for the ending of all things? TDK's ending is worse with the bolted on Two-Face who should have been saved for the third film. After all Harvey Dent's development Two-Face is rushed massively, which was a big error.

Indeed, Begins was more coherent film.

However, Begins was also dull as strawberry float, as Bale's fantastic take on Batman didn't have a vaguely interesting villain to play against.

Also, sorry, but Begin's ending was terrible. I'm not sure even comic book logic could legitimately make 'blowing up a train and sending it careering into a crowded city' compatible with a no kill rule. Hell, it's nothing short of a minor terrorist attack.

The stuff with the boat in TDK is awful. And I agree that it isn't well paced. It drags a lot in parts.
