Name some all time classic scary films please, that I can watch with a girl who gets scared really easily.

I've seen most I can think of, Alien, Shining, the Thing, Signs etc. I prefer unsettling horror ie Session 9 to things jumping out and ultra violence. If nothing else comes up defaulting to the Thing, such a strawberry floating good film.

Cabin in the Woods - ****

It was actually fantastic. I'd heard all about it being refreshing, a new take on a tired genre, and it indeed was, even if it veers away from that genre a lot towards the end. Wasn't expecting it though, and it worked great. Loved how they used the cliches from old slasher films, but this time they had a reason for them, for instance the alpha suggesting they split up, or someone dropping their weapon even though they need it.
Chris Hemsworth's death was pretty funny too.

It would be much more funnier if the eagle didn't explode at the start, showing the "barrier".

The Dark Knight Rises - 8

I somehow guessed that the Miranda character is in fact Talia Al Ghul, from the moment that she reveals the scar on her back. The backflash regarding the child's escape confirms it. Playing Batman: Arkham City helps a bit as that's where I know that Ra's Al Ghul have a daughter.

Bane is an excellent villain. I find it hard to believe that is Tom Hardy under all those muscles! It does make sense that he is the protector, not the mastermind. But he is very intelligent. Gary Oldman is excellent as Gordon once more again.

Catwoman/Selina Kyle is actually better than I expected.

Also pleased to see Dr Crane/Scarecrow in it, even though he's not in it much but his performance was menacing.

If I was Alfred, I would have gone over and punched Bruce Wayne in the gob for making me thinking he was dead and failed his parents.

A few plotholes, like how the strawberry float did Bruce Wayne manage to get over to Gotham without any money or ID from a country far, far, far, far, far away. And how the strawberry float he managed to sneak into Gotham.

Also I sincerely hope that the entire franchise isn't rebooted completely. I would love to see Blake's (also his real name, Robin is a nice touch.) Batman.

As for the series, I would rate this as the weakest one in Nolan's Dark Knight series. BB=TDK>DKR.

Default to The Thing. The Hills Have Eyes remake is alright, one of the few horror movie remakes that I really enjoyed - and it ticks the unsettling horror box too. Got some rape in there. Image

Dial M For Murder - 8/10

Dial M for the Master of Suspense. Superb dialogue and an intricate plot finished off with some nice moustache combing.

I don't agree with that. I didn't like The Cabin In The Woods (just because it's knowing doesn't necessarily make it smart), but the build-up to that scene was beautiful, great use of dramatic irony. Probably the only genuine laugh I got from the film.

I'm looking forward to it as I've avoided any spoilers, most people says it's best if you know nothing of what's to come! :D

The Expendables 2 - 10/10

Love gooseberry fool action movies, didn't enjoy the first one but that was great, so entertaining.

The bit where Billy gets a knife kicked through his heart then shoots up and says I'm dying had me in stitches.

Watching Sunshine again, about my fifth time now, I love it

The visuals are so beautiful and it's so cool and futuristic, definitely my favourite Boyle film.

The Cabin in the Woods

I was expecting it to be funnier, especially considering the praise it's been getting on here. It was like a "horror" Hunger Games. Disappointing, really.

6/10

I probably wouldn't watch it again, to be honest.
