I thought he was great in Snatch. Watched it recently, very fun and enjoyable film.

Les Misérables : 10/10

Stunning. This has to be the first movie musical for a long time, if ever, that has used the filmic medium to experiment with and embellish the source material rather than going purely for extravagant bombast. The actors were clearly given an ability to truly explore the emotional scale of the songs, a privilidge I'm sure some stage performers are a mite jealous of. Anne Hathaway's rendition of 'I dreamed a dream' is utterly heartbreaking. Musically messy, but all the more intriguing with it. Recording on set should be the norm. Why it's taken this long to do it on a big budget flick is a joke.

There's a grime to the production, too. It doesn't feel like a Hollywood production. Costume design is incredible. Yeah. Crowe's metal voice aside, I was left flabbergasted by how brilliant it was.

I was very surprised by The Wedding Video, which was far funnier than I was expecting it to be, and has us laughing throughout. 7.5/10.

I've also been re-watching the Harry Potter films. Hadn't seen the first one for something like ten years, so it was great to go back and see how my perception of it had changed. It's still a wonderful film, but I had a lot more problems than I did last time (such as the reveal of Quirrell as the villain in the first film being made so clear). Azkaban held up brilliantly though, excellent film. :wub:

Next up: Les Miserables and Silver Linings. :wub:

Dredd - 6.5/10 Not too bad a shoot-em-up romp. You can see where they filmed the scenes for 3D purposes, which kinda spoiled it a bit, out then that it was good. I want his gun! :datass:

Guys, guys... Lay off Bunni and her score of Starship Troopers.

She's a girl. Women generally don't like this kind of gooseberry fool. My wife would have given it a zero. I would do the same for Mamma Mia (her favourite film :dread: .) and she wouldn't care as she knows its cos I'm a man.

Watched man on fire last night and really liked it, 8/10, but the gf gave up 3/4 through. She was hoping it was going to be more like Taken so was bored shitless and hated the shaky/overlay/hallucination thing that was going on. Bitches be crazy.

That expression would look so stupid if he didn't have the helmet on. Strangely enough.

strawberry float I thought that was pretty crap. Samuel Jackson's character was obviously a symbol of tarantino's perception of spike lee, and I think, although could be entirely wrong,

His character was a reference to this quote from Spike Lee about Samuel L Jackson;

house Negro defending massa

that the whole thing comes across as a spaghetti version of blazing saddles with a bit of blackspoilation thrown in, with a big middle finger up to spike lee's rejection of tarantino as a daft racist, probably being the closest thing he's done to a comedy so far.

Harsh. Yes, the sacks on head scene could have come out of Blazing Saddles, but its tone was relatively sombre (for a Tarantino movie) I thought.

And it's his worst film by a mile. Misfires all over the place. Man tarantino hates lee. Gunfights were all superb and up there with Dredd's shooting scenes so drags the score up. Far too clean and super-well produced to remind of the eerie heat in proper spaghetti western I thought, so lost tension. Maybe I'm wrong through. Definitely a comedy though.

I thought it was his best film since Jackie Brown. Besides, it's miles better than Death Proof.

Does this mean his character in Californication was a parody of himself? :shock:
