One Day - 7/10

Good romantic comedy. Nothing incredible but quite moving.

World War Z, was more enjoyable than expected. A little cliché but overall good fun.

Just watching Scott Pilgrim, such an unlikeable film.

Tombstone - 7/10

Solid western, great ensemble cast. I think it was filmed a bit too "modern" if that makes sense.

Enjoyable romp though.

Man of Steel - 9/10

Really enjoyed it. Heard many complains that it is too serious but what were they going in expecting?

Django Unchained - 8/10

Loved the style of the film and the cast in general!

Seen quite a few films over the last few days:

Man of Steel: 6, Action felt very weighty, but I didn't enjoy the story that much.
The Incredibles: 9, My favorite Pixar film.
The Departed: 9: Really enjoyed this. So many great characters.
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs: 8, Really fun and I love the over the top cartooney-ness of it.
Surrogates: 4, Not terrible, but nothing really redeeming. 'Bland' would be a good word to describe it.

World War Z

Even as a big fan of the book, I was actually quite enjoying the first half (or so) of this. It was fast and frenetic, if a little nonsensical, and had some genuine 'jump scares', I thought. The Zombies were quick and relentless and offered a decent enough sesne of threat. I'm not saying it was briliant or anything, but it was fairly enjoyable in a 'switch brain off to watch' kind of a way.

But then, boy did it really fall off a cliff. Everything after Israel was just really awful. And the whole last section, with the sleepy Z's, really lost any sense of menace that the film had sort of gained early on. There was a reasonably large group of people (well, teenage lads, really...) in the cinema who were actually just laughing at the shambling, window-nutting zombies at the end. And as annoying as that was, I couldn't help but see where they were coming from. The whole thing just reminded me of the scene in Shaun of the Dead where they 'act' as zombies. Chronic.

And as for Brad drinking that can of coke..... :dread:

Still, it's not beyond saving; there could be a decent sequel dragged out of it, I suppose.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

It was terrible though. Tbh it is 26 years old so the special effects wasn't up to much. But then i did just watch the 2013 version of Evil Dead which was awesome!

not properly. But a bunch of people go to the cabin and the evil dead kills them. Evil Dead II = pretty much the same thing

Might watch Army of Darkness today.
