Will still like to see a sequel.

Not even as a joke was that funny. The Stallone Dredd was appalling, Karl Urbans portrayal of Dredd was far more in line with the character in 2000AD.

I dont know why, but that sounds strawberry floating incredible.

Pocahontas

Been buying lots of the more "classic" Disney films on bluray recently (got Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid and the animated Alice in Wonderland last week). First time I've actually watched Pocahontas. It was ok, but the soundtrack on the whole was disappointing (the digging song and that Savages tune were pretty weak. Basically any tune where Ratcliffe has a major role). Don't understand why they cut If I Never Knew You out of the theatrical release, either. The film works a lot better with it included.

Colours of the Wind is still leagues ahead of anything else on the soundtrack, though:

Goosebumps

7/10

Also wtf Christian Bale is in it. Didn't recognise him at all.

Spiderman (2002)

Has aged a bit awkwardly, but it's still tremendous fun and refreshingly light hearted compared to some of the current superhero offerings.

8/10

I watched this on Sky during the week. I still rate the first two Spider-man films as solid 9/10s(Banjo, you need not reply ;) ). This is partially because they're bloody great films and partially because I am 6 years old and they have strawberry floating SPIDERMAN in.

I watched the Amazing Spiderman the other week, and that was far better I was expecting. Really looking forward to the second now. Think I'll go back to the Peter Maguire trilogy soon, as I haven't seen them in years.

Also:
The Dictator- Terrible. A few cheap laughs, but long stretches full of jokes that weren't funny.
American Hustle- Really enjoyed this, it was great fun.
Clear History- A great film for Larry David fans. Pretty good.
Gravity- Didn't like it as much as I was expecting to, but it's still a very good film.

I'll go for either Wolf of Wall Street or Captain Philips tonight.

I watched Return of the King today. I don't need to give it a rating, because I've done it 8 times in this thread already

Jack Reacher - 4/10
So strawberry floating boring. It's like Jag: The movie :fp: The acting and story are just strawberry floating terrible, it's like one of the US dramas that are so gooseberry fool they don't even make it to this country on any channel, but all one episode and 4 times too long :dread: Even the action is dull. So, so bad.

Under the Red Hood

I really enjoyed that. Much better than the animated version of The Dark Knight Returns.

Magic Mike 8/10 Never thought I'd enjoy a movie about male strippers as much as I did but that was really great. After White House Down and this I think I'm developing a man-crush on Channing Tatum. Not the best actor in the world but he has this charisma that I find great to watch.

GRcade wrote:I think my favourite moment of 12 Years a Slave is unlikely to be picked by anyone else:

Jasper. The slave who sees Solomon and his family and follows them into the general store. It's such a minor moment but that actor conveys so much in his minor role; almost bewildered by the life Solomon lives, and the crushing defeat of knowing it is something he will likely never have. Its placing in the film also lends it added power. It's Solomon reflecting on the life he had, how he didn't even realise his good fortune compared to the hell others are consigned to. A small, almost throwaway scene that lends added texture to the film.

I actually read that scene differently. The white guy, leaving the shop with his 'boy', gave Solomon an odd look. For sone reason I took that to imply he had somehow had something to do with the kidnap. I may be reading too much into it.

The Wolf of Wall Street - 7

Was really quite disappointed with this, I've loved pretty much everything Scorcese and Di Caprio have done together and they're both brilliant apart as well so went in expecting another classic. It just didn't seem to be that to me though, the story is largely a non-event and feels like Ive seen it a dozen or so times before with nothing to set it apart. The length is crazy, easily an hour longer than it needs to be and it felt like it repeated itself plenty. I haven't read much about this so don't know if it's been a point of contention throughout the films media but the portrayal of women in this is pretty strawberry floating shitty too. I know to a large extent it's the world in which it's set but it kind of felt like it made that point and then some. On the other side of that coin Margot Robbie looks strawberry floating incredible throughout.

It was pretty funny though and the scenes of excess (and there were a tonne of them) were done quite well too. Plus it's Scorcese and Di Caprio so there's really a limit to how bad it can actually be. Can't see it picking up many Oscars.

Apocalypse Now Redux - Unnecessary. The scenes with the men trying to get their hole with the playboy bunnies were funny but other than that I would say stick to the original.

Ender's Game - 5/10

Looked nice. Everything else was pretty average and seemed rushed.
