The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States."

Wells confirmed Naughty Dog veterans Neil Druckmann (creative director) and Bruce Straley (game director) are leading the project, and promised to discuss "how we've been working as a two team studio".

I'm geuinely surprised by this. First of all it's great to see a new IP and not another sequel. Secondly, Naughty Dog famously only ever work on one game at a time so I was never expecting a new game from them so soon.

On a CG forum where ND posted some Uncharted 2 wireframes and textures, someone commented that most of the artists who had worked on Uncharted and Uncharted 2 were not working on the third game, and had presumably left ND, but actually they probably just moved to this game instead. Other than that tiny hint nobody knew anything about this 2nd team.

It also makes more sense now why Sony would buy ND their own motion capture studio.

Freaky fungus that grows out of your head? Much more scary.

So true, plus it's something that actually exists in nature so potentially could happen to humans:

Edit: The teasers to this game focussed a lot on ants, so that probably was a reference to the above video with the fungus that grows out of their heads.

The last two games Uncharted games have both had one 'holy gooseberry fool! that made me jump' moment. In Uncharted 2 it was when you first see the Yeti. It is in the foreground the whole time as you climbing ice in the background, but you don't notice it at all until it suddenly moves.. In Uncharted 3 it was when you are in the caves under the Chateau and squeezing through the tight space and then suddenly a load of spiders come from nowhere and crawl all over you.
So I agree a Naughty Dog survival horror game could be something special.

If Naughty Dog handle this right, then it could be really special. Please Naughty Dog, save survival horror!

Bless Staydead and Fatal Frame  Siren is much scarier :shifty:

Really big coup that they have Ellen Page in this. WP Naughty Dog.

Naughty Dog put a heck of a lot of time strain on their actors so it's really impressive they've got her signed up for this.

Is the male character Troy Baker?(Yuri in ToV)

So the director of Uncharted 2 and lead designer of Enslaved are working on this.

I really hope that's not Ellen Page, as I'd like to play this.

Also, that's blatantly an old Nathan Drake.

Sounds nothing like Ellen Page, so I'm guessing it's just a coincidentally likeness :shifty:

It actually sounds exactly like Ellen Page. And the character is called Ellie.

Compare the trailer to this video:

If it's not actually her, they've nicked her likeness and hired an impersonator.

Looks interesting. Still hoping Naughty Dog are working on a new Uncharted game alongside this though. Uncharted has been my favourite series this gen.
