As a PS+ subscriber and Season Pass owner...will this download via the Auto-Update mechanism at all? We can pre-order it (and I guess it would automatically download when available) but I don't want to because I should get it anyway.

No, but if you add it to your Download Queue, it will.

I finally finished this last week and can now see why everyone whose played it holds it in such high regards. Amazing stuff.

Having steered clear of any related news, I'd missed the DLC announcement so that was a nice surprise after finishing it. I'll be picking it up on Friday for sure. (Valentine's Day? What's that?)

I'll need to actually plug my PS3 in full stop. Hasn't been hooked up since the PS4 launched.

There will be updates. :dread:

I keep forgetting I paid for a Season Pass when I bought the game and the PS3. :fp: The DLC must have downloaded overnight, as it was already activated on my in-game menu when I checked. Nice. Might have me a Last of Us session over the weekend, then. Been a while since I've spent any time with the game.

Some nice discounts for PS+ currently available for PS3 on the PS Store, too. Must...not...be...weak...

Do you acquire the DLC in-game, or from the Store itself? Or either?

There's a title patch, and then you should be able to get it from within the game. I think you can download it from the store, too.

Do you need to have finished the main game before playing the DLC? I've been tasked with updating our guide with it but I've yet to really start the main game itself.

To not have the story spoiled, 100% yes.

And if I don't get a choice in caring about that (and I've already seen the ending anyways, so I'm not exactly bothered about the story tbh)?

This. Seriously, for the sake of a guide you'll probably make £100 from you're going to waste one of the greatest gaming experiences of any generation? :dread:
