I'm half tempted to buy the Art Book after this, I just love the world they've created. Each new area has a story to tell and it's great to see how the urban world has crumbled in the wake of the virus.

It may be a stupid comparison but I'm going to make it anyway. I'm watching The Walking Dead at the moment and in terms of environmental story telling and the plot of the zombie/virus outbreak, The Last of Us is so much better it's embarrassing.

I think once Ive done this and the Game+ I might try a clean Survivor no death run.

Zombie game, Zombie show. Not a stupid comparison really.

All things considered TLoU is very quickly heading towards Ocarina of Time and Super Mario Galaxy levels of brilliance.

For me nothing has come close to topping Metal Gear Solid (PSOne) all those years ago. I think The Last Of Us may now be my all-timer.

Certainly nothing last generation comes close and I'd be a very luck gamer if anything this generation is anything like as good.

Roll on a PS4 sequel...even though both look stunning on PS3.

I really do with they'd at least port the multiplayer over to PS4. Leave the story on PS3. That would be fitting, I think.

I still remember playing Metal Gear Solid it was released the summer before I went to secondary school it wasn't just a video game it was an event. The Last of Us is certainly one of the finest games I've ever played but I don't think Metal Gear Solid can ever be replaced as the greatest game I've ever played.

Enjoy waiting for that

If not, I'll just rebuy it at less than half the price I sold it for.

And then buy the DLC on top, that will have been a worthwhile enterprise.

Buy £40 game, buy DLC.

Buy £40 game, play it, sell it for £40, buy game at £20, buy DLC.

Do you know how to maths? One of these things is not like the other.

Finished. Utterly utterly brilliant. All gaming fans need to play this.

Not just the best piece of DLC ever but there won't be a better 3 hours of gaming this year, or probably until ND release their next game (which might actually be this year ho-hum).

Fade wrote:Okay now story

When Ellie kissed Riley it kind of made me jump  in a good way though I thought there might be something between them, but the character building in the DLC was obviously really good because it gave me that feeling you get in your chest when something is really adorable. Makes what happens even more tragic :(

At that point I was a gasp as well.

For me, though, it was when Ellie got hold of the medical box in the helicopter and held it tight. She muttered to herself 'I'm never letting you go'. I took that as a double meaning. I took it as intended but also as a projected emotion for Joel, to get him back. It was a deep moment for me.

Some more impressions

I think they set up the two stories running alongside each other because they didn't want to compromise the story elements with Riley. I've read in a couple of places that Druckman and the team struggled with how to make it fun which I can kind of understand because there's not a whole lot of gameplay in the Riley stuff which makes sense because they're not really supposed to be taking on infected or have any real enemies at this stage in their lives, they're just kids mucking about which was brilliantly put across. I didn't think they'd be able to do it in the first half hour as even having read the comics there was nothing to get invested in really in the relationship between Ellie and Riley, but boy did they cram a lot of character development in an hour or so. The water gum stuff and then dancing and the kiss was absolutely beautifully pitched. It didn't catch me by surprise at all because it just made sense and it's something I kind of felt about Ellie from the main game (whether that's intentional I don't know).

The chase and the fight at the end was a magnificent way to end and so so heartbreaking. I'm kind of split in opinion as to whether they should have showed the climax of that, it would have been good to see after the investment you've put in but on the other hand I think I might have exploded in a fit of tears.

The Joel stuff was clearly there to add the action and it did so very well, it was a great bit of gameplay that fitted in very naturally with a gap in the story. The infected / hunter battles were an awesome sight (God I would love to see infected in the multiplayer), I didn't tend to interfere on this first run through but will definitely dive in on my next go around. Also had a really cool moment in one of the battles when I was clearing a room of hunters and there was a guy ahead of me in front of a box, I popped up fired a arrow right into his chest, it sent him hurtling backwards and tumbled over the chest to the other side. Was a really cool moment that made me feel like a super hero, never managed to do anything like that in the main game.

Loved the little military team story, I can see why they didn't want to revisit Ish it would have felt like too much of a coincidence and this worked excellently as a findable story. Loved the detail in it as well like the sawn of arm, the bullet in the dead captains head and the bloody drag marks.

So gutted this is the last we'll be seeing of Ellie and Joel.

I also found it impressive how they actually made the 2 scenarios relate to each other, even if you don't realise it until the end.

Really good watch that, answers loads of questions about the game and all the 'why didn't theys' and 'what ifs' I had. The internal reviews at ND sound stupidly picky

The one thing I would have liked asked though is whether they ever tried any other death mechanic to try and emphasise the 'survival' aspect of the game more as I died a few times in Left Behind and it occurred to me again.

Also amazing to hear that even after close to 4 hours there was stuff that I missed.

Took me just over 3 hours to complete. Utterly brilliant! I was a little worried about the hour that CVG quoted, but even though it was fairly short, I think it was worth every penny; so beautifully put together. I'm torn between wanting a "proper" sequel on the on the PS4 that involves Joel and Ellie, or a totally new adventure within the same universe.... Whatever it happens to be, they can pretty much take my money now......

How much better is this game than Uncharted 3? because I got bored of that and still need to finish it. And then what about uncharted 2 which I consider to be the best PS3 game I've played thus far.
