I've too much to go into here, but it's one hell of a consistently brilliantly show. I still think S1 is the best( it's purpose is much clearer, being as it is a full blown analogy of WWI) but the expansion to a gangster family saga is handled so well the following series are almost as excellent.

I agree about Peaky Blinders, loved watching it myself as well :)

Anyway I've just finished watching Requeim on iplayer and I'd still say it's alright, probably a 7/10 being generous. It's good in parts but then a poor in others. The ending was also kind of odd, it's not like it was setting it up for a second series as the way it ended made it seem like a standalone series.

I'm kind of tired of hearing about Peaky Blinders. I watched a couple of episodes with the wife and from what I could tell, aside from having an embarrassingly gooseberry fool name, it appears to consist of Cillian Murphy and a bunch of other melters wandering around, trying to act all hard and intimidatory, calling people out for being pricks and telling them to strawberry float off.

I mean even I could do that yet people rave about it.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Well you don't have Cillian Murphy's eyes.

I've never watched any of it but it all seems to be filmed around here (a bunch of the interior shots were being filmed at a house literally just around the corner so we had to get the crew to move their van so we could actually get past them a couple of times) so everyone local raves about it too (to the point where there's "peaky blinders nights" at local pubs :dread: )

Star Trek Discovery. Not a massive fan of Star Trek (not watched any series since The Next Generation) and although I didn't overly enjoy this at first, ended up thinking this was great. The twists in the story were really good. Looking forward to the next series (assuming there will be one).

A solid 8.

Embrassingly gooseberry fool name, what?

You do know they were a real gang, right? Do you know the reasoning behind the name?

Couldn't you say that about any gangster story?

Just finished The Punisher. Fairly predictable but enjoyable. I don't think they need another series.

 People rave about this show in work but I haven't given it a watch yet, I think you've just made me realise why I've been reluctant to give it a chance.

My wife has just started watching Peaky Blinders and I think it looks alright. I've been half watching it while playing Lumines. However, its constant reliance on modern music to make scenes "cool" is really irritatingly grating. Those scenes would've been much better using authentic 20s style music or even just something orchestral.

Detectorists

Big budget productions are all well and good, but this makes a nice contrast. Very low key, tender and wholesome slice of life. Well acted (Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones lead) and funny with a likeable cast of characters. Recommended for some chilled viewing

Nah, the soundtrack is one of the best things about it. It's a really interesting collision of period piece and contemporary gangster saga and the music only deepens that relationship. Red Right Hand

Altered Carbon 5/10

Hard to say this wasn't a disappointment. The first few episodes were god strawberry floating awful, and although it got better the further the series progressed it was still a nasty, exploitative piece of lowest common denominator sci-fi. Considering its rumoured budget, it looked incredibly cheap too.

Everything Sucks 6/10

Not bad, but not mindblowing either. It starts off as pretty much "90's references: The Show". But once it gets past the stage of being like HEY GUYS REMEMBER POGS?? LOOK PEOPLE ARE PLAYING POGS!! and jut gets on with the story, it gets a lot better and has a decent ending.

The end of the f***ing world 7/10

Quite enjoyed that. Was pretty grim but quite funny too, tho it loses points for a bit of a "is that it?" ending.

Don't you think it's gone really silly though? I can't suspend my belief anymore after what happens to Tommy at the end of Series 4.

Just finished series 1 of Stranger Things and it was really great.
The inclusion of D&D being a highlight for me.

9.5/10 I'm deducting half a point for it not being set in space.

Indeed. Myself and the wife discovered this over Christmas and ended up watching all 3 series in about a week.

Just a wonderful bit of TV and a genuinely satisfying conclusion to it all as well - ignoring the fact that I would dearly love them to make more!

Van Helsing S2 - 6/10

Very generic and predictable yet I couldn't stop watching it.

I regret nothing.

The League of Gentlemen

At this stage I've watched series 1 and 2. Loved the first set of episodes. The humour sunk straight in. It usually takes me a few episodes to get used to comedy shows. I will probably rewatch this series. 8/10

Season 2 felt a bit weaker beyond the first episode unfortunately. But still enjoyable. 7/10

Onto season 3.
