Yeah I thought that was soap-level TV. Absolutely awful.

Harlan Coben but when you mentioned the bad resolution before I thought you meant the image quality was dodgy, I've just realised that's not what you meant at all :slol:

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - 7/10

Decent little spin-off of the Monsterverse movies that focuses on one family and their relationship with Monarch from the 50's right through to 2019. It's mostly set between Godzilla and King of the Monsters, but there's a good chunk of it set in the past with young Kurt Russell (Played by Wyatt Russell) and his relationship with Keiko and a young Bill Randa (John Goodman in Skull Island). Getting Kurt and Wyatt Russell to play the same character at different points in his life is quite fun.

Being a show it's focus isn't going to be on epic monster fights, but they work the Titans in quite well. They are used sparingly enough that it's always fun when something turns up.

So yeah, if you're a fan of the movies its worth a watch, especially for fleshing out the early days of Monarch.

Currently watching this and not really enjoying it (but easy enough to watch and a couple of episodes left so will finish it - so good to hear the ending is trash :slol: ).

I dont care about any of the characters. It seems to have waaaay too many elements added each episode and is almost trying too hard. Also the title sequence is awful.

Had previously seen the latest series of Vigil which is so much better than this, which probably doesn't help.

I thought the Richard Armitage one where he is looking for his wife was better. I forget what that's called.

It's watchable but it's not amazing like most people seem to think. I feel TV is not as good as it was and there is a lot of average stuff now which gets a lot more kudos than it deserves.

I think it's just the effect of Netflix being so widespread now that they can peddle any old gooseberry fool and the general public will hype each other up en masse that these things are actually good.

I saw the perfect headline on one of the IMDB reviews for this - "facebook mums will love it" - couldn't have said it better myself

Big thanks to whoever it was talking up Ghosts the other week. I suggested it off the back of that and we just finished it last night, both devastated that it's over.

Loved it .

It's one of the best shows of the year.
The story is just great.

Yeah it's on my list to watch. I'm taking a short break from the misery of war though!

They are also shooting another show ‘masters of the air’ for Apple TV. Same people behind that as band of brothers and the pacific.

Hell of a bump, but I did a search and couldn't find a dedicated topic. Episode 1 is now out. Very good so far. Not sure if it will show the horror as much as BoB and The Pacific, but it's basically the stuff the Memphis Belle movie used to embellish the story for that film. Except of course, this is as true an account as the earlier series.

Feels a bit weird to be back watching that kind of a quality war drama after all this time. Very hard to put it into context in the modern day, where even landing a plane was a bit life or death without the threat of Nazi fighter planes.

The Mandalorian Season 2 - 8/10

Really enjoyed this (as with season 1, i got it on blu ray steelbook), followed on nicely from the first season and was good fun throughout (plus i did particularly enjoy the CG cameo of an old favourite at the end as i really didn't expect it).

:dread:

They went on to ruin it didn't they.

Mind you, it felt like the story had properly concluded at the end of the second season anyways.

Before you watch S3, be sure to watch the book of Boba fett, as while it's pretty meh, it effectively turns into Mando season 2.5 half way through and you'll miss important stuff that happens before season 3.

Slow Horses (Season 3, AppleTV) - 8/10
A bit too over the top with parts of its story and particularly its finale, but the cast and comedy make up for any shortcomings. This is still top notch entertainment and Oldman's Lamb is one of the finest tv creations ever!

Fool Me Once - ?/10

I honestly don't know if I enjoyed that or not. It's ridiculous from start to finish, but it is entertaining. The "Facebook mums will love it" comment was spot on.

I'd watch a spin off buddy cop comedy movie with the two policemen though.

Just finished series 4 of For All Mankind.

This series just gets better and better and I can't wait for the next season.
The story is amazing and all the characters are just great.
Easily worth the cost of Apple TV+ on it's own and an easy 10/10.

Just magnificent and perfect Sci-Fi.
