Is that the general consensus? My wife and I recently managed 2 episodes of season 3 after loving the 1st 2 sessions and we never went back.

Yeah, they tried something new and it didn't work. Weirdly enough, it's exactly the same thing Arrested Development Series 4 tried and failed to do too (the whole Rashomon thing).

I think that's commendable though. Better to try something new than stick to a formula.

There's a small shift in tone. I've watched the first three episodes, it's not too bad, but it feels like it's missing something.

I couldn't watch S4 of Arrested Development. It was dire.

Silicon Valley season 1 & 2. Kept on seeing this whenever I scrolled through Now TV so thought I'd finally watch it. A lot of tedious stereotypes but I guess that's the point since it was based on Mike Judge's experiences working there. Not bad overall but TJ Miller's character is awful and I'm glad they're getting rid of him after season 4. Glad it's only ten half hour episodes a season so it's an easy binge.

I know he's supposed to be a super detective but he was pretty much drugged up Jesus by the end.

I don't mind showing drug use but the idea that Sherlock was still able to be this super genius while out of his tree was just stupid.
His abilities just became so overpowered it just lost all semblance of reality.

Plenty of shows have used drug use as a story line with much better results. The West Wing for example showed people able to still work with the pressure of being in the White House while being an alcoholic but it also showed how it eventually worked out and it showed the characters as human. Sherlock would go from being in a drug den surrounded by people with nothing left to being on the case and pin sharp again almost instantly.

As I said it just felt like the just ended up resorting to magic to explain how he did things.

You are mixing up two different things there. The drug use is different to the "magic" powers.

The magic powers are silly and the show did fall off a cliff when the use of the memory palace became too silly.

The drugs use is straight from the books, blame Conan Doyle.

Just started Jessica Jones season 1.

Rwally good actually, lot more interesting thematically than I expected.

Shakespeare and Hathaway. But only because Jo Joyner is in it.

It’s terrible but Jo Joyner is in it. 9/10.

Yea, I found it a really interesting take on the super hero genre. I liked the idea of Daredevil when it was essentially centred on the corruption surrounding the rebuilding of the city after Avengers, and I really liked how this took themes of sexual assault and PTSD etc and filtered them through a superhero lens.

I think the major movie series are doing a fine job of exploring the idea of 'what if this really powerful guy hit this other really powerful guy in the head?', so it's nice to see the other series taking more of a 'How would 'X' work in a world where there's also superheroes?'

I have just been catching up with The Strain, watching all series 3 and just started watching series 4

Pretty much my reading of it. It's still a disappointment but it did save itself on the tail end somewhat.

Very entertaining and easily Ted Danson's best work in years. Great twist as well, one that I should have really seen coming.

Bless Sam Worthington's little socks he does try. It's still a fascination of mine how this guy, Plainy McNoface himself, was the go-to guy for Hollywood a while back.

Heere he's completely outshone by Paul Bettany in what is a generally good show. There's one standout ep, that not so coincidentally does not include Worthington, and the rest is watchable if not extraordinary.

He was replaced by Jai Courtney as Hollywood's favourite bland actor.

Same here. We were very close to giving up but I'm glad for the perseverance because I really enjoyed the last 4 episodes.

Seven Seconds Netflix Original.

Fantastic cop drama which tackles some tricky subject matters really well.
