Salem - S1.

The wife and I really enjoyed this. Daft in places, but beautifully shot and thoroughly entertaining. Pretty gruesome as well.

The Genius: Grand Final - 10000/10

The fourth and final season and as ever it was glorious. I loved that the entire season was made up of contestants from the previous 3 and it was a pleasure to see some of them again.
Some fantastic moments and it had at least one episode where I was genuinely upset by the elimination.

Taken as a whole show (Season 1-4), it's not just the best game/reality show I've ever watched it's genuinely one of the best TV shows I've watched full stop. I cannot recommend this enough.
Even the contestants are great, with at least one who I have elevated to legendary status.

In no other show can you see people explain how they worked out a mathmatical problem while dubstep plays in the background and totally buy into it. Absolutely wonderful and everyone should give it a shot.

Designated Survivor, season 2. I don't think this is very popular on the forum but I enjoyed the first series and enjoyed this even more. 8

The Good Place. 8/10. I like Kristen Bell, and Ted Danson is very good in it.

Evil Genius

For some reason this didn't seem to really grip me like it should have. I don't know why, the case seemed to be quite interesting so I guess the fault must be in the retelling of it. Not a patch on Making A Murderer.

Holy gooseberry fool that was insane. Amazing documentary and Taf was absolutely right about it in that it literally just keeps getting crazier and crazier every episode.

Also, I hope im not alone in leaving the series with a real weird attraction to Sheela tho :slol: Those nude photos man :shifty:

It's absolutely unbelievable. But also, real. It's great.

After it got cancelled then uncancelled we're watching Brooklyn 99. Opinion very quickly went from 'it's an ok but try-too-hard comedy that's a bit kooky' to 'these are my best friends in the whole world.' It's such a good spirited and genuinely likable set of characters that even the most dad of dad jokes becomes incredibly funny. I think I'm in love.

Also, Diaz

The Rain series 1

I really enjoyed this and have high hopes for future series. It's a Danish series (I watched with english dubbing which is done mostly by the cast themselves who are bilingual but you can also watch with subtitles) about an end of the world virus and a couple of kids who were hidden in a bunker for 6 years who then escape and have to live in the aftermath.
It may not be the most original concept ever but it's done well and the cast are great.
It's on Netflix and if you have that it's well worth giving a go as the episodes are about 45 minutes long and there's only 10.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6656238/

I'm going to give it a solid 9/10 :D .

Great first series (10 episodes). Gritter, gruesome, compelling story, beautifully shot, well acted. Hope they do more.

Agreed its a little like sherlock and reminded me a little of Hannibal with some of the art style and grit.

A read that a new series hasn't as yet been commissioned as they're waiting to see how well the first fairs. Fingers crossed.

I just finished this and was thoroughly disappointed. Started off strong but was too long and the script fell apart towards the end with plot holes everywhere.

After getting used to Dexter's British accent this was actually pretty good. Lots of twists and turns, and it never drags. Some good attention to detail I noticed the necklace in the pool very early on, and also the VCR at Chris' house. It did a good job with creating red herrings and ruling them out within an episode or two, so you're constantly guessing. I did figure out the ending the episode or two before, but there was a lot of detail with the motives that meant the finale was still great.

I thought it was a bit of let down. I have to believe that in the book the reader would have known about the incident at the school neaer the beginning as it would have given context to the gated community and some weight to the reveal I also found it difficult to believe that the chief detective would have been able to carry on completely unfased by what she had done. Definitely the best English accent by an American that I've heard.

Just binged on it over the weekend. It's fun in an offbeat way with serious Wes Anderson and Cohen Brothers thoughtout. It's dark in place, sad in others but a fun little joyride.

Ozark season one - 8/10

Really enjoyed this, initially I wasn't sure if I could take Jason Bateman seriously but he's actually really good in this. I like that it avoids some of the tropes for this sort of show, for example there isn't the tedious aspect of him hiding his criminal life from his wife because she already knows about it. Looking forward to season two.

Mindhunter season one - 8/10

The actor playing Ed Kemper is great, so unnerving.

Yeah definitely. Not much actually happened but the way it was built up throughout the season and the way it was acted and shot etc. makes it an incredibly effective scene. I think this scene and the show overall is a great example of less is more.

The Last Kingdom - Season 2

Still great fun. It's historically all over the shop and a bit lightweight in places, but it cracks along at a fair old pace and is super entertaining. The characters are almost universally great, particularly King Alfred who somehow manages to be both likeable and a total arsehole.
