British crime drama on Apple TV which is about as mediocre a series as it's possible to be. Passable entertainment if you like this kind of thing, an easy miss for anyone else.

5/10

That's disappointing, had been looking forward to it. Think it reviewed pretty well on metacritic.

Vigil Season 2 8/10 This is better than the 1st series. If you fancy a British Crime drama, you could do worse.

the ending wasn't the most satisfying, a bit too on the nose

I hadn't even bothered starting season 2, since season 1 just felt so cheap and naff.

I suppose I should give it a chance at some point.

I thought 2 was much worse. So many unbelievable or far fetched events for the sake of cliff hangers or suspense. The pregnant lady confronting the armed assassin by herself :fp:

Dopesick (2021 | Disney+)

A drama series based upon the true story of a US pharmaceutical company supplying an addictive opioid-based treatment, this is pretty shocking stuff in terms of the scale of the impact. Thousands of people died through effects caused from taking the drug but the family that ran the company pretty much got away with it; they lost the company but kept (all of?) their personal wealth and didn't do any prison time.

It's a series that you can't really say is enjoyable, but it is valuable in firming up the idea that the corporate business world can be hugely ugly and hold a complete lack of interest or care for people.

Is that the Sacklers and the opioids? John Oliver did a few episodes on them. Horrific stuff.

It is. There's also an alternate style take on the story on Netflix called Painkiller, which we're watching at the moment. Same story but told in a more dramatised and in your face kind of way. Only in America :dread:

Yea I watched that one, with Mulder's daughter. Horrible watch.

Let me know when you finish it coz I personally found the ending heartbreaking.

Empire of Pain is worth a read if you want to find out more about the Sacklers and their company.

It's so strawberry floated up. What amounts to heroin being given out for things that mild pain killers would be fine for.

Undercover (Season 3, Netflix) - 7/10
Not quite up to the standard of the previous seasons and it gets ever more ridiculous, but still a fun watch and a decent finale to wrap it all up. Just the Ferry movie and tv show to watch now.

Ive got to the end of Community s6 and noticed that its leaving netflix at the end of the month, so started again at the start.

I was of the opinion that Parks and Rec is better. But ive changed my mind. Parks and Rec is "nice", and i still really like Leslie Knope. but so many Coumminity episodes are absolute bangers. Yes its a change of pace when Troy and Pierce leave, but the quality is still high. Also I do think they did Britta dirty when it emerge that Alison Brie and Donald Glover were the real stars of the show.

Just Watched S1E3 - thats a great episode right there, so clever on a second watch.

Parks and Rec is more consistent (other than S1). But the best seasons of Community are far far higher in quality.

The counter argument is the lows are much, much lower in Community. Always feels like it's relying on a few standout, clever episodes here and there to compete with how consistently enjoyable Parks & Rec is across its entire run. (Although why these 2 shows in particular are always put up against eachother I'm not so sure).

I've simply got more out of Parks & Rec over the years, so it's still top for me.

Not if we include Parks & Rec S1. ;)

I agree that it's weird these two shows get compared though. They are not really very similar to each other.

The thing is if they put Parks and Rec back on Netflix, i will be saying the opposite in a years time and still compare it to community.

Narcos (Series 1 to 3) - 10/10

Excellent and griping stuff. Can't believe it took us so long to get around to watching it.
