Just Cause 2 Swoops in Ahead of Pokémon

Square Enix Europe rack up their second All Formats No1 this year so far (previous being Final Fantasy XIII) with ‘Just Cause 2’ thanks to their subsidiary Eidos Interactive.

The original Just Cause released almost four years ago just missed out on the top spot, debuting at No2 in the All Formats Chart. Nintendo’s remake of Pokémon Gold and Silver (originally on Gameboy Color) debuts on the DS this week with ‘Pokémon Soulsilver’ at No2 and ‘Pokémon Heartgold’ at No4, with EA’s ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2’ sandwiched in between at No3. Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance’ moves down a place to No5 followed by Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ which bounces back up to No6 from No10. Last week’s No1, Sony’s ‘God of War III’, has dropped down six places to No7 followed by Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy XIII’ which has dropped down five places to No8. Nintendo then finish off the Top 10 with ‘Wii Sports Resort’ at No9 and ‘Wii Fit Plus’ at No10. Outside of the Top 10 we have Koch Media’s TV tie-in ‘Prison Break: The Conspiracy’ new at No17 and Ubisoft’s ‘Red Steel 2’ debuting at No34.

I imagine PS3 owners were more hyped about it and rushed out to buy it day one. It was one of those games touted as a system seller back when it was still exclusive.

Seems to be even for ff13 here. In the USA it'll be interesting in the NPD.. will the ps3 version have outsold the 360 3-1 as vgchartz said or more?

This is certainly the biggest ps3 game yet and probably the one that turns the tide back to ps3 in March along with God of War ahead of the 360's run of games from Splinter Cell, slim and price cut later this year.

Suprised Prison Break even made it in, I guess the £25 price some places helped it sell. (I'm quite enjoying it too)

Fock yeah Just Cause. 8-) Poor Red Steel.

Nice one Just Cause 2. Excellent game and Avalanche definitely earned the good sales.

It also almost guarantees a sequel.

That's a pretty big surprise, truth be told. Pokemon beaten by Just Cause 2? Really unexpected.

Nah, it's just cos Pokemon's got two versions. Look at the individual format charts. Both versions of Pokemon sold more than either format's JC2. Put them together and it'd own JC2.

ouch red steel 2. Way off previous games performance at this early stage. Sad, but predictable I guess...

It's not really been beaten, though. Pokémon has the top two SKUs. Not really sure they should be counted as separate games given that they share so much content.
