Its a bit of a strange review to tell you the truth. There do seem to be legitimate complains (driving physics and performance issues chief among them) but the rest of it seems a little picky to me.

Sometimes a 5 is better than a 9.

I'm pretty sure EDGE wouldn't know a good game if it shat on their chest.

ONM rated this 90%

...Massively addictive. Non-linear. Loads of hours of gameplay.

Only real negatives were no multiplayer, and grfx have some jaggies when zoomed in (although it does say that most of the time you're zoomed out enough for it not to be noticed)

I can't help but think EDGE must have gotten this one wrong. Seems like whoever it was that reviewed it went into it actively wanting to hate the game to me.

A mod needs to check the IP address Hugo is posting from. Somethings not right here.

Lets see some more reviews, I've read the Edge review and the performance issues seem bad for an exclusive, also if the vehicle handling is that bad it could cripple the game like Edge says.

Watching those videos it just looks like the same old mechanics pulled from all the other games.

There's the tap B to open a heavy door bit from LOTR
There's the helicopter race bits from Batman 2

I love lego games btw, Its just after a few you tend to see that there's a lot of copy and pasting going on behind the scenes.

FWIR, the ONM reviewer was one that had not given great reviews to the more recent lego games, because they were getting jaded.

In this one, he says that the vehicles all handle differently, and that when you hit stuff, lego bits fall off and you get to see how the leg vehicles were built, which sounds cool if you like lego stuff.

The open world part sounds good, and basically it just sounds like a darn load of fun with a ton of content.

Lets see what other reviews come in though as you say...

I'm going to be picking up Need for Speed before this though, because that also got an excellent review. Sounds like a really good port job with extras added, and enhancements to help rectify a few bits of criticism cited on its first outing.

How does that square with the EDGE review?

Gamecentral gave this 7/10. I've usually found they have some of the most reliable reviews around. Does seen like the EDGE review may end up sticking out like a sore thumb!
