How bad is the PC version?

EDIT: Just seen this.

Yet again TT Games have released a game onto PC that isn’t nearly good enough. Lego City Undercover [official site] has launched in such a state that you can’t change the resolution from the main menu settings. The “Accept” button is entirely impossible to select, and the default is a teeny 1280×1024. And for goodness sakes, don’t Alt-Tab.

Switch version is definitely an improvement on the Wii U original. Loading times are still there, but they're not as obnoxious as they were before. After an initial long load it's far quicker to get into the game than previously.
Frame rate docked is substantially better than handheld though, where it suffers quite regularly. I need to put more time into it to get a proper assessment, but so far when docked it's good. I've also been playing without the initial patch so that might fix some issues.

From what i'm hearing the PC version is horrendous though so it's one to pick up on consoles.

There's been a PC patch which fixes the main issues but the control options menu still looks like they left the dev/debug menu in place instead of making a UI for it.

I've started this and it's pretty fun and deeply silly; I'm not going to get every collectable or anything like that (the same for any Lego game; down that way madness lies) but I expect it'll be a fun romp.

Seeing as how I seem to be playing my Switch predominately in handheld mode, I think I'm going to wait to see if they patch this version to resolve the issues with frame rate.

Anyone tried it on a PS4 Proa at all?

I checked in to watch ten minutes of your show at around 23:30, Dev. I didn't sign in because I was soon off to bed, but it looked cool and you had eight or so viewers.

How were you broadcasting Switch gameplay? I guess you must have been taking a feed out of the docking station?

Exactly.

My net connection has had a big upgrade so I can do better streams now rather than the 2D stuff I did before. Looks pretty good. My PC struggles with 1080p though, which is a shame but I'm looking to get back into streaming more. Probably gonna alternate between LEGO and Horizon over the next few weeks.

Just to let you kno, Twitch has upped the nitrate you can use from 3500 to 6000. I've currently set mine to 5000 and GRcades to 4000. I would have GRcades higher but I only stream retro games on there.

I'd be keen to check out your Horizon play-through. It looks so cool but I'm not convinced that the gameplay would be my cup of tea... it'd be interesting to see how you find it.

Pedz is infested by 5000nps (nits-per second). You manky bastard. :dread:

I was streaming at 3500kbps last night but there's definitely some overhead to go up to the 6000kbps max I think. I'll be tinkering with it over the next week or so. Might even see if I can manage at 60fps as well.

I was doing 60fps at 2500. If that's what you mean? Or do you mean due to your PC?

If you double the FPS, it means the PC needs to encode twice as many frames in the same time. Similarly if you don't increase the bitrate then you're squeezing twice as many frames into the same amount of data so you lose image quality. Not as big a deal with 2D sprite games as the images are easier to compress due to blocks of colour, but 3D stuff looks like ass. I'm gonna be messing around with it and seeing what I can manage.

Plus my PC was struggling with 1080p. OBS was having issues as well, but it could be one of any number of parts on the set up. Elgato could be acting up, PC could struggle, OBS might just be having a gooseberry fool fit. Like I said, tinkering.

If you're up for some Rocket League at some point I want to try it out while playing online as well.

Anway, back to LEGO City. Just unlocked my fourth costume slot now so I'm getting more abilities. Means I can access more of the world. I'll probably stream some more tonight after Retro Mondays.

I'll be up for Rocket League whenever dude.

Also if OBS is having problems you could try OBS Studio, it's the newest OBS and it's meant to be better in everyway. Though the Mumble plugin doesn't frigging work.

Started this yesterday, it's really good. Load times aren't anywhere near as bad as I expected from what I had read, it takes a while to get through the initial too but they aren't all the time so it isn't all that bad.

Wii U. It looked like they used the gamepad properly so didn't want to miss a chance to play something that used the WiiU properly

Nice one, man. It was good to see the game make use of the 'pad.

Looking forward to seeing a pic of the system slotted into your entertainment setup :toot: .
