WANKERS!

Bought my mum a tablet for Christmas, works fine except it doesn't charge.

Lenovo have sent a replacement charger which didn't work, nor do my other USB chargers.

I sent it to them for repair in January, 3 weeks later it came back fully charged but not able to charge, I sent it back again 2 weeks ago and its come back with the same problem.

They keep telling me that there's nothing wrong with it but there obviously is, anything I can threaten them with? I'm reaching the end of my tether with them

Make a complaint, tell them youve sent it for repair twice now having only had it since xmas and it still doesnt work. If they don't replace it or fix it, you'll take it to the small claims court under the sales of goods act.

Thanks, Glowy.

It's beginning to look that way, I'm about to send it back to them once again and get the same "we've been unable to replicate your fault" nonsense with the tablet returned fully charged as if by magic.

They keep asking me the same questions and all I can say is that it doesn't charge regardless of which charger or electric socket I use.

have you tried charging the tablet at work and/or at a different house? best way to prove to them that it isnt charging no matter what you do.

Give it back to the shop and get them to exchange it.

Who did you buy it from? The retailer have all legal responsibility for repairs and replacements, not the manufacturer.

If you didn't buy it from Lenovo directly then any small claims court case will go immediately against you on that basis alone. If you didn't buy it from Lenovo they have absolutely zero legal obligation to you. Only the actual retailer does.

Also, the sales of goods act doesn't apply to anything bought after 1st October 2015. It's the Consumer Rights Act you need to claim under now, but same procedure still applies.

I've explained my dilemma to John Lewis, they said if Lenovo think it's in working order there is nothing they can do.

Doesn't matter what Lenovo think, it's John Lewis' problem to deal with.
Since the tablet is under 6 months old then you don't even have to prove that it's faulty, John Lewis have to prove it isn't. That's the law.

Could you take in the charger and tablet to JL and demonstrate to them it is faulty?

Yep, take it into John Lewis and get them to sort it.

This seems like the obvious solution. Why does it even need to be suggested?

Yes?

Don't see why that should matter, take it into a store explain the situation - most sales advisers will be happy to help you.

Even if they say you need to go through the online channels, explain that you have tried but that they don't seem helpful and see if the in store adviser can advise a way forward.

I would have thought that JL would be a multi/omni channel organisation so where you purchase your product shouldn't really mater.
