PostLG HDTV Audio problem
by Jimmy Shedders » Mon Dec 28, 2009 6:18 pm

So I recently bought a new HDTV for myself in the Christmas sales (It's a rather lovely LG 32")

I'm either going mad or there seems to be a slight second delay in the audio on the games I'm playing
I have both my 360 and PS3 connected by HDMI cables and I've noticed there seems to be a second delay in the voices whilst playing different games (You can see their mouth move before the speech happens)

Is there anything I need to do to sort it out? Or am I just going mad?

How odd.... it could be something to do with your TV having trouble with certain types of audio. Try turning off 5.1 on the DVD/Game console, making sure it's only sending stereo. You could also look through your TV menu to try and find any audio processing gooseberry fool to turn off.

Or it could be that every LG TV I have ever come scross (including my old LCD) has the same problem for some reason.

It will also probably happen if you attach a home cinema system too. Why, I do not know. :fp:

When you spend such a high amount of money on something, you do tend to look out for flaws in them.

I'm sure your telly is fine, chim.

This is caused because the image processing and audio processing are taking fractionally different lengths of time.

If it continues to be a problem, there's probably a setting somewhere to adjust the balance that's separate to turning off the processing stuff, but it's likely buried in a service menu that you can gain access to with a code on your remote, but I wouldn't recommend it. Google for information.

Otherwise, do what others have suggested and switch off the processing for whatever (audio or video) is "behind" the other.

With my new telly, I've had to set a tiny delay on my surround sound output from my home cinema system to make the lip synch exactly line up. It's a common problem.

I've got both my 360 and PS3 connected via a HDMI cable, with just the TV speakers for the audio
It's an LG LH5000 Series model.
Is there anything I can switch off / on to make them sync?
