Not yet.

Okay... I'm back on it!

But... loaded it up and the save game says that I'm only seven minutes into it. I made over half-an-hour's progress yesterday - well, and another twenty minutes not making progress - but it hasn't saved it. Hmmn.

Oh, well, I'll do this bit again.

...right, done that - it was just a few moments - and I'm back to where I was yesterday with having to craft a replacement car door.

Dunno how to do it, so I'll search around the garage again.

Ah! A symbol appeared on screen and I'd thought that it was telling me to press the down direction button... but it actually meant to press the touchpad! Right, I can now tell what I need to craft.

...I scavenged the parts and have crafted and attached the car door 8-) .

There is a lot take in; it's pretty complicated and whilst I'm okay doing each step I can't imagine having to do it in a rush. There is a lot of small text to read, too - why do games have such tiny text?!? I'm having to stand up and walk over to the TV to read it :fp:  .

I'm gonna take a break again now; I hope that my progress is saved!

Uhm, I can't quit yet, it seems. "Progress last saved 20 minutes ago"... I guess I have to make more progress to get to the next checkpoint.

...right, made a bit more progress in readying the car - and a save option appeared - whoop!

Enjoying this so far; it's very atmospheric. Everything is quite complicated; the controls are a little convoluted. It adds to the experience of actually doing stuff rather than just pressing a button, though.

Okay, I will take a break now.

I really like the sound of this. And I sit about 4ft from a 50” screen in my games room. If I can’t read the text from that distance then there is no hope!

It has been good so far; the atmosphere is great. Things are very involved; it's not like GTA where you walk up to a car, get in and slam down the gas.

> Press the button to open the door and get in
> Look at the ignition spot and press a button to turn the key
> Look at the handbrake and press a button to change it from park to ready
> Now press the gas!

Equally, to stop you have to ease off the gas; set the handbrake to parking; and turn off the ignition. Then press the button to exit... and then close the door. You don't have to... but if you don't - like I didn't the first time - you may find that your car is on a slope and it rolls away down the incline :-).

The whole game is convoluted like this; there are steps to everything. If it sounds dull, it's not; you feel a sense of reality and progress in doing things.

It won't be for everyone but, in these early moments, I'm enjoying it.

You should be okay, kaz! I'm convinced, though, that most game developers must test their games sitting around two feet away from a huge screen.

Isn't there an option to make the subtitles/text larger? (not Larger as Lager.)

Although there are tons of options - so many things can be changed! - I think the challenge is that the HUD is - depending on the situation - very busy and there is quite a lot of text. A pint of lager - or, rather, larger - is about the only thing that doesn't pop up on the HUD. So far, anyway  .

I spent a long time trying to work out how to put some items in the boot ("trunk"). I had the items and was told to put them in there... but it wasn't obvious how to. I eventually worked out that you have to look at some cardboard boxes that I'd previously put in the boot, hold the item required, and press triangle to put it into the box. Okay once you know, but it wasn't clear. And most things are like that; one spends time trying to work out fairly simple things.

That makes it sound like it's not enjoyable... but it is! It's quirky and fits in with the style of the game.

Aw. Was interested in this but if it doesn't make the subs/text bigger then looks like I have to pass. I couldn't play Disco E cos of the bloody small text.

I'm not sure if you have access to a PC, Wedgie, but - if you do - a demo of the game is available. I'm not a PC gamer myself, though.

I'm branching out, Danes. Gonna pop back on in a wee while; my car is (I think) all set for me to attempt a journey. Out into the wilderness!

I set out on my first journey. But... I was driving along and the menu popped up suddenly and I couldn't exit it. I looked at the map and I fast-travelled to the destination point... I dunno why. I exited the car and got killed by some plasma thing within just a few moments. I then awoke in the car back at the base.

This game is pretty complicated  .
