PostLondon Parking - Park and Ride?
by Shadow » Mon Aug 27, 2012 10:03 am

I'm heading down to London for Eurogamer Expo, normally I'd get the train, but I want to make sure I'm there when the doors open, so I'm thinking I'll drive.

My hotel doesn't have a car park, so I'm not sure what to do.

Is there like a large carpark somewhere that I could leave my car in for a few days (that isn't going to cost a fortune) and then get the tube into central London?

I know a lot of cities have a park and ride thing on the outskirts to get around this problem, but I'm wanting somewhere I can leave my car for a couple of nights.

Leave it in the car park at the hotel you are staying in?

The hotel is in Kensington, and doesn't have a car park. Presumably land is too expensive to justify it?

Where are you driving from and why are you so desperate to be there when the doors open if you are going to be there for multiple days?

Last year there was a huge queue at the start but if you went an hour or two later you could just walk right in.

The only option for car parking that I can think of is to leave it in the car park at a train station at a village or town just outside of London. Somewhere like Hitchin or Henley-on-Thames maybe.

Or, park in Earl's Court. I just checked and it's £25 per day for parking there. Not too bad for Central London really. You have to book it in advance here: http://www.eco.co.uk/p/earls-court-parking/220

These are both really good ideas! Thanks!

Henley is about 40 miles away from London, it's a long way to trek in. Where are you driving from?

Heathrow is closer but appears to be not much cheaper than Earl's Court - http://www.heathrowairport.com/transpor ... ay-parking

Was in London a couple of weeks back and Westfields were doing a parking offer of £5 for the day.
