My mum's looking to get my Dad a laptop which is going to have pretty basic requirements. It'll just need to be used for streaming football and web browsing a good speed, so with good RAM if possible. Budget is preferably nothing more than £250 for it. I'd look myself but i've literally no idea what i'm looking at. Can anyone recommend anything?

The most RAM PC World has available at the moment for £250 is this ACER: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing ... 0-pdt.html. Everything else is 2GB &/or more expensive. If you want to go a bit higher there's Toshiba, which has a bigger HDD & longer battery life (7 hours): http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing ... 0-pdt.html. Both come with Windows 10 installed.

John Lewis have a Lenovo for £260: http://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-g50-lap ... k/p2109057. 1TB HDD, 720p webcam, and 4GB of RAM. Paltry 4 hours of battery life though.

If it's not being used for much from what you say...

Go to ebuyer

Laptops

Sort by cheapest

Buy the cheapest one

Personally even for just mostly browsing the net. I wouldn't go for anything less than an i3 with 4GB of RAM.

Taking that into account...

http://www.ebuyer.com/700308-lenovo-e50 ... 80ja0132uk

£249.99 for a Lenovo E50-70 Laptop with a i3-4030U CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD.

It may be possible to get something a little cheaper than that, that isn't terrible. But I personally recommend anyone I know buy a £150 laptop.
