I love the combat, Traversal is fun and the story seems ok but its all so brown. I presume another whole area opens up but at the moment this seems a bit odd. It's all very confusing at the start, ive played about 4hrs now and I'm still not sure what the hell im supposed to be doing or whats going on. I find it disjointed having to kill a few orcs to get to a mission start where they are respawned again and the time of day changed.

When walking about does the time of day change at all? it doesnt seem to. It also is a VERY small map thats made bigger by mountains and rocks in between places. Also the UI is horrible, I know I have to press y to parry but the symbol is so big its odd, all the button prompts are huge. I do like the game and a sequel would be amazing if it was all just bigger but at mo feel a little underwhelmed.

I dont think it is, but is there a new area later in the game than the brown fest it is now?

Yes another area opens up later on.

I preferred the second area - a bit more colourful.

Oh, and you can turn off the prompts in the menu if you want to.

So a few hours into this. Spent most of the time just wandering around the place killing bastards. Impressions.

- Talion looks generic as strawberry float. It's like they decided to make the blandest hero ever.
- Intro was great, really well done.
- The first hour is confusing as all hell. Just wanted to go and kill some orc, died repeatedly.
- Combat is a straight rip from the Arkham games. Not a bad thing.
- Keep reading about all these amazing organic fights with Captains thanks to the nemesis system. Not seen any of that, although apparently you have to get a certain way into the campaign to unlock all the features.
- Campaign seems OK. Stealth is done well, challenging and rewarding.

So far it's pretty good but I'm assuming the Nemesis system hasn't properly kicked in yet so it's nothing more than that.

In the early stages you will get into confrontations with large groups of orcs and uruks that you would be best off running away from as they will just overpower you.

It doesn't take too long for you to unlock some of the more advanced abilities and the dynamic switches in your favour, though. In fact it probably gets a little bit too easy towards the end of the game.

This happened to me and I was absolutely furious. Research one guy for a good 10-15 minutes, plan the attack, get stuck in...2 more top bollocks show up, kicking my arse.

Livid...LIVID!

This happens a lot so you have to adopt guerrilla tactics. Stealth your way up to the target, kill them quickly and then flee.

Some of them are resistant to stealth attacks though so it doesn't always work.

As soon as you get the ability to dominate and control enemies, the odds switch in your favour.

If they're resistant to stealth, you can normally instakill them by sniping. If not you have to combo kill them quickly unless they're one of the cheap ones who are also immune to combat finishers. I set carragors on those.

I had one warchief whose only weakness was 'scared of fire' and he had loads of strengths including the combat finishers one. He was invulnerable to ranged weapons so fire arrows weren't an option.

The first area that he spawned in there were no fires anywhere near so I was stuck. Fortunately I was lucky and he fled the area after I'd killed a load of the Uruks around him - right into a new area with a conveniently placed fire!

Well this is a nice surprise isn't it

I'm still very early in the game but I had a right banana split of a captain that kept killing me with his stupid poisonous spears :x it's kind of addictive wanting to go and find him just to get your own back. :datass:

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Started playing this yesterday, seems fantastic so far. Very very easy at the moment, like I'm taking on 3 or 4 big named guys in a figth with a tonne of grunts and still coming out unscathed. Is there a way of upping the difficulty? Is the area you are in at the start the whole game world or is it like a city in assasins creed and you go to others?

Love steaming in and strawberry floating battering 30 Uruk and not taking a single hit, dat batman combat :datass:

You're in the first zone. Another will open up later.

No idea about difficulty levels, most people find it quite tough early on.

If you fast-forward time the captains will level up.

I got kinda bored with it towards the end - the Nemesis system is pretty cool, but an endless supply of captains and whatever makes perfect sense in terms of narrative and stuff, but in a way it's counter-productive. After a while, you kinda stop caring. One gaffer falls, another just steps in, forever and ever.
Saying that, it's all leagues ahead of anything those dull Assassins Creed games churn out. It out-Batmans Batman in some respects, too, the combat is absolutely incredible. The dodging is a bit hit and miss, though.

Yeah, I'd recommend people just starting the game not to spend too much time killing captains. I spent a huge chunk of the game killing them and in the end, I stopped caring who they were and couldn't remember any of them when they'd make reference to our earlier battles. As well as that, I'd tired myself out on the game by the final third of the story so just ploughed through the final missions. You should definitely leave yourself wanting more from the nemesis system rather than having too much of a good thing.

> above two posts advising against killing captains

I've killed most of the army now  killed 4 generals and the tier below them with about 3 left to beat. Rat bag is the last general but I can't touch him until the inevitable betrayal mission rolls around.

Combat is so sweet in this, had the screen filled with enemies earlier and still came out on top.
