Just started watching this the other week. On season 2 now and after not being too sure after the first 1st episode (season 1) I'm really enjoying it now!

Lots of weirdness in the finale. Why the hell was Luther arrested? They had literally no evidence. And the whole bit with Alice shooting that bullet out of the door with the nail, had literally no bearing on anything and came across really strangely. Also Alice's lips make my skin crawl.

Pretty good overall, but could have been better. 2>1>3. As much as I'd like it to continue, with Justin dead it'll be missing one of the best parts.

Just watched all of season 1.

Five out six episodes were amazing.

But the final episode was possibly one of the stupidest strawberry floating messes of inconsistent strawberry floating batshit retardery I've ever watched.

I mean, strawberry floating hell, someone got paid to write that. If it wasn't for amazing performances by all the principle actors the show would have died but whoever actually wrote that plotline and script should be strawberry floating ashamed of themselves.

Just caught up to the last episode.

Season 2 was awesome, but strawberry floating hell season 3 had some weak writing. It was carried exceedingly well by the actors but some of the plot was absurd. Luther getting arrested for Ripley's shooting for example was nonsensical.

I mean, we have a police officer getting shot whilst chasing a suspect, shot with a gun used in a couple of murders by the same suspect, so let's arrest his partner who was surrounded by police and people at the time of the shooting.

Why? Because he was in on it!

Why do we think this?

Because reasons.

Luther returns in 2015:
“Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there's hardly been a minute when I didn't wonder what happened next. So I decided to find out. We're putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.” - Neil Cross.

Idris Elba will reprise his role as DCI John Luther in two hour-long specials for BBC One. LUTHER will film in and around London in March 2015 and will be broadcast on BBC One next year.

I have got a proper man crush on Elba, mind. Even if I do still think it's weird to see him talking with an English accent.

Started watching this yesterday, it comfortably gooseberry fools all over the vast majority of any cop dramas I've seen, most American cop shows, and anything ITV has shat out in opposition. Really surprised at how good it is. Idris is immense in this, and that woman, Alice? Holy gooseberry fool what a stunner.

Luther returns on Dec 17th on BBC America so I assume it'll debut around the same time in the UK -

Image

The wait is over! Golden Globe® winner Idris Elba returns to his iconic role as a self-destructive near-genius detective on the edge of law enforcement. Luther makes its highly-anticipated return in a one-night special event on Thursday, December 17 at 9/8c.

And we can finally reveal details:

Detective Chief Inspector John Luther (Elba) will learn the hard way; he may never be able to walk away from capturing the tormented psychopaths that lurk the streets of London. His attempt to leave the darker side of humanity behind for a chance at a “normal” life is quickly thwarted when he’s drawn into a terrifyingly complex case. A cannibalistic serial killer delivers a devastating blow that not only pulls him out of seclusion but pushes him closer to the edge than he’s ever been.
