I really need to get round to finally watching think. I think I did watch the first episode once but couldn't get into it as I had just come off a marathon viewing of The Wire and couldn't stop seeing Idris as Stringer Bell!

Anyone know if it's all streaming anywhere?

Netflix have the first 4 "seasons" up. I say seasons like that because the the first has six episodes, the second and third have four each and the fourth only two.

Got a feeling this new one is only two episodes as well. Really annoying as your just getting back into it when it ends.

But it is awesome and definitely something to watch.

For anyone that hasn't watched it before it's well worth checking out. You can see it on Netflix and iPlayer and there are 4 new episodes airing this week starting yesterday.

Yesterday was a pretty good episode but there was a section in the middle where the pacing was off, I felt like they tried to move it forward faster than the story asked for. Looking forward to tonight.

I really don't know about this series. Parts of it are good (the relationship between the murderer and his missus) but I think other bits should have been dumped (not sure they should have brought back Alice Morgan, and then turning her into Deadpool in the car!.

I don't like how they're retroactively filling in loads of blanks from in between the current series and the last one. Cheapens the story somewhat in my opinion. I also hate that the end credits tease what's happening in the upcoming episode, who's bright idea was that? :fp:

ALSO - and this is just me being picky it annoyed me when the SWAT team stormed the guy's house and Luther's new partner lady just waltzed in straight after them and into uncleared rooms, that just wouldn't happen in real life. The whole building would be cleared before anyone not in body armour was allowed in.

Otherwise, it's been quite enjoyable. Elba is great as always.

Please don't predict things you don't want to happen again. You're cursed.

strawberry floating didn't realise this was a Luther thread - thought it was an awful AYAW spin off... :fp:

Not a big fan of this series. Theres' too much of this Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels gooseberry fool and not enough creepy, scary serial killers.
It's still interesting and enjoyable to watch, but it's not what I fell in love with Luther for.

I want really awful, skin crawlingly creepy bad guys doing absolutely abhorrent things to people and I want John to catch them.
Maybe spend two episodes per bad guy max. Like the earlier series.

Going by the end of episode clips it's about to go full on Expendables.

I agree that they've kept this killer going too long but I feel like the focus with this series is less on the criminal and more on Luther's situation. I preferred the earlier episodes but I'm still enjoying this change in style.

I quite liked the nod back to Henry Madsen but otherwise it wasn't great. Think they should have offed Luther and I thought the killing of Halliday was completely pointless. Also disappointed by the pack of focus on the nut job couple. Their relationship just wasn't explored enough. More time on them and less time on Alice Morgan. Schenck was top notch though.

Never watched Luther before, but as the wife was a fan I agreed to watch the new series with her. Finished it last night via BBC iplayer.

Well, that was some dark gooseberry fool!

Very good. Excellent in fact. I can see why folk go crazy for it.

If you liked that then seasons 1-3 will blow your mind. Think they're on Netflix.

All the series are on a box set on iPlayer actually, great excuse to catch the superior earlier series.

Some of them are muuuuuch creepier than this series. You'll love it.

Disappointed with the ending for this.
Also fed up of the amount of times Luther says "I will make this right" - just stop all this extra curricular activity gooseberry fool and catch horrendous serial killers!

I wouldn't mind seeing a Luther X Jonathan Creek crossover...
