I saw that clip on You've Been Framed a few weeks ago sans Peppy and it made me chuckle.

"Hey Einstein, I'm on your side!"

Fantastic game, to say the least, even if I like the original Starfox/Starwing better, possibly because I found Lylat Wars to be...wouldn't say easy, but certainly a lot less difficult than its predecessor. This led me to some frustration because I was always looking forward to fight it out with Wolf and quickly they became somehow trivial battles.

"Are you gonna listen to that monkey?"

"Haha, you're not as stupid as you look!"

Zoness boss, anyone?

"Disrespectful little whelps!" "I'll teach ye some respect!"

It's just impossible not to love things like the vortex that takes you through surreal stages in Meteos and Sector X, or the amazing Macbeth level with our tank battle
where we are actually rewarded for taking the easiest way out - anyone agrees with me that changing the 8 switches was easier than directly confronting the actual boss?

"I didn't expect to have to use this." "You're very lucky."

But one thing that I had already noticed 12 years ago was how two particular expressions seemed to have been left out in the English translation - when we go to Titania [
and yes, the first time I played it Slippy got knocked out by the Sector X boss
] and Falco says "He can sure be a pain in the neck."...made me wonder, is that expression actually used? Or the dubbing team at NoA wanted to avoid saying "Pain in the ass"? Also, several characters say "Dang!" in moments of anger, where in my mind, "Damn!" would be the word to use [without sliding over to harsher stuff]. Now, I'm not a native English speaker but these two expressions...well, they just don't seem natural for me, as far as I can remember I never heard anyone say "pain in the neck".

"Cocky little freaks!!"

I can't remember the last time I played through the game and I didn't hit all the switches in the Landmaster level.

Nope, "pain in the neck" is a used expression (mostly in the States, I suppose), even if it's used to avoid saying "ass". Just like "What the heck" is softer than "What the hell" which is softer than "What the strawberry float", and all three expressions are used frequently.
Remember this is a game designed also for kids, so they have to use the Disney approach of using less vulgar versions of strong expressions. Which is obviously better than not using them at all.

One expression I had never heard before Lylat Wars was "You just worry about your own hide". WTF is "hide" you Mediterranean vulture?

I remember Nintendojo's import review of the Japanese Starfox 64, and the reviewer had some colourful translations for terms such as Falco's "kusottare!"

It's been a while since I played the Japanese version--and I didn't get a chance to play through much of it--but the English translation was...all right, I think. Liberties were taken, I recall; at the end of the easy Corneria route, for example, the robot-guy says, "My Emperor, I failed you!" in the English translation, whereas I think he said something like "Andorf-sama~~~~~~~~! (Awkward pause.) Sorry!" before erupting in the Japanese one.

I liked the localisation, though. The English voices were incredibly similar to the Japanese ones, save for Pigma and Leon.

Oh, that clears it, thanks - I had just never heard it before, probably because in movies and the like they always say "pain in the ass", I guess using this expression would have been enough to give the game a Teen rating in the States...

And does anyone remember Bill's occasional sarcastic line?

"Try shooting the bad guys, Fox!"

He made me feel genuinely bad the way he'd say:

"Fox, that's one of ours"

gooseberry fool, sorry man. :(

It didn't for me  Well I was trying for medal on that planet so I just gave up and keep throwing bombs everywhere to see if I can get most enemies down - thus killing his party mates

Out of all planets, that one is 'hardest' one. Although lava world one can be bitch if one or two of your party mates are low on HP (cause heat can KO them and you won't be able to get gold medal)

No it isn't :| There's a few I never got medals on, but that wasn't it. I think Titania, Sector Y and sector X, Area 6, and one or two others were the ones I never got to.

Playing through this, I am acutely aware of just how badly I want a Starfox game of this calibre to come to the Wii. I'm terrified of what might happen to it, though, so I'm trying to keep my expectations as low as possible. Worst case scenario being that we might not see it at all.
