Strange episode, definitely didn't help that it's been 6 months or whatever since the last episode. Hopefully it gets better as it goes as has been the case in the past. I like that they're never afraid to leave people scratching their heads though.

Didn't know what to make of the episode really, although 'Mr Potato Head' made me laugh

Not entirely impressed with either of the first two episodes (apart from the magnificent head and facial hair of course), however I can't ever remember being engrossed in the beginning of any season and they've all ended up brilliant.

Thursdays on Sky Atlantic at 10pm, you've missed 2 episodes so far with a 3rd on Thursday.

Yes, just checked :x

I've downloaded last week's episode through catch up and set the planner to record the rest so I've just missed one. Can anyone describe what happenened in the one I missed (episode 8) in a few sentences?

Do sky not let you go back and watch it? A bit naff if that's the case, I'd just pirate it.

Episode 8 as well as every other episode of Mad Men is available through Sky on Demand on my box. I assume he's watching it through something else.

I checked catch up and box sets on Sky but episode 8 wasn't there. I'll see if I also have on demand although if this is something you have to pay for, probably not.

Never used that before but worked a charm, showing it as on demand and I could download. Thanks!

Yeah the search function got a revamp recently and it seems handy, I was using it to find NBA games.

One episode left and last night's was the first that truly felt like they were heading towards the very end. Something more overtly dramatic was bound to happen, and it's sort of fitting that after everyone's been smoking so much over the series that it be lung cancer. I believe Betty will be dead by the time the next episode rolls around and this is set up for Don to take the kids and live in Anna Draper's old house to round off the series.

I even felt happy for Pete!

Finale spoilers

Loved that, a great mix of satisfying closure and open-ended conclusion. Ending can be taken as literally meaning Don came up with the Coke ad idea (which as has been repeated on Twitter endlessly this morning changed the ad industry forever) and it can be taken as a message that work and life are entwined, not separate entities and happiness doesn't lie with either one. The message of wanting to buy someone a coke is capitalism and advertising at work but the ad has an optimistic, positive outlook. Wanting to buy someone a coke is a nice gesture, even if its an advert telling you to do it.

Who the hell would have guessed Mad Men would end with Don doing yoga and Joan doing cocaine?

Some will probably see the Peggy/Stan thing as too soapy for a show that's usually short of that kind of thing, but they're a great pair. I can both buy into them as a couple and think the show has earned that kind of saccharine moment. "There's more to life than work", he said, but happiness can be found anywhere and different people find their own balance. Joan seemed happy with hers, Peggy found love at work, Don's crisis eventually saw him "retire" but could have seem him return to deliver his career-defining pitch.

The best scene was between Don and Betty. It was devastating, first her line "I just want things to be normal, and that means you not being around" then three words that brought the tears.

"Birdy..."

"I know."

Just watched the penultimate episode yesterday. TBH, haven't found any of the episodes since the break and restart to be amazing. As things are, this is a pretty good way to end the series, I won't feel like I'm missing much when it ends.

Finale -

Good finale. Pretty much what I expected overall. Other than Don, not too many surprises. Going to miss the show a lot, nothing quite like it on TV.
