What's the melee combat like in this? Is it as good as sleeping dogs?

There is melee combat, but I would set expectations of its quality and or depth closer to GTA than Sleeping Dogs.

I don't know about Sleeping Dogs, but it feels just like The Last of Us to me. Quick, easy, and weighty, with neat finishers.

Sleeping Dogs combat:

You could do all that stuff out in the open, not just in arena combat.
I think it even had a upgrade/unlock system, for both melee and *pew pew pew*, I don't think Mafia III is that kind of game...

Yeah, it's not like that.

Skip to 23:13 here for a short melee brawl.

Played for 47 minutes and the game crashed not long after I served some jumbo. Presentation is impressive and I enjoyed my time with the game. Very little interaction so far but it's still in the tutorial/setup phase.

Having literally completed James Ellroy's Blood's a Rover yesterday which is set in the same time period I appreciated the world-building in this and stuff like the summary of contemporary Haiti. I'd be interested to know if Ellroy was an influence on the writers.

Traded in Deus Ex, No Man's Sky and Uncharted 4 so this only cost £8 :datass:

Not really arsed. Game was £49.99 and I got rid of shite I didn't want and couldn't be arsed completing.

Not really, no. I guess.

I at least hope this game turns out to be more to your liking. (Or rather you like it enough to see it through to completion.)

It's a shame you had to go to Game Mafro as the game is around £37 on shopto.net.

I'm guessing you didn't price matched with Cex Maf. Their trade in prices are always better.

Mafia 3 is not worth trading in Uncharted and Deus ex for.

If you'd have waited a day and bought it at Cex you probably could have traded in 2 games and got it for free with some money back.
