Necro is a great game, sadly GW don't promote it anymore.

I have 20 year old GW paints with the white pop caps, and all of them are still fresh.
The horrible black screw cap designs from about 10 years later have ALL dried up (the majority of my paints).
Since then I've got a bunch of the new pop cap ones.
I imagine hundreds of thousands of paint pots have been lost. Surely I'm not the only one that shares this pain.
Whoever made that decision better have been destroyed. I still think it's amazing the old pots can have lasted that long, though, considering it's water based.

The screw cap pots were a terrible design. Like you I still have loads of the original white caps, all fresh as the day I bought them. The new pots ar better, however I hate the fact that GW have streamlined the range to "make it easier for the kiddies" while bumpig the price up. I source a lot of my stuff eleswhere now.
Vallejo paints are quite good, but a little watery.

Kinda.
The majority is from the Nerco main game, the green looking stuff is from the add on Under Hivers IIRC, all the mutants and rat skins.
The rest is from second edition 40K.
I've actually got a load more terrain, but its plastic, not card, and really bulty and a pain to get out of the roof space.

That Luftwaffe plane looks great. When I was younger mine would look alright, but they'd end up looking like toys, whereas yours look more like the sort of thing you'd see in a museum display. The only special painting technique I know is gently dabbing a lightly coated brush over a coat of normal paint, which gives a sort of used space burnt metal effect (see picture below for an example of the actual parts I painted, although mine were darker than that).
Did you use a spray gun for the dark parts of the fuselage, or is it just brushwork? I also never paint the canopy frame, although now I look at yours I really should

I only know the white capped paints as I stopped model painting back in the mid 90s.
They had a nice little lip in the lid which held a perfect little amount of paint to dip a tiny brush in without saturating it irrc.

Yeah the current design does the same thing. They are shorter so less inclined to knocking over too.

Some nice models in here. I love the idea of painting, but I just don't have the patience or steady hand for it. I've done one little section of my Chaos guys in a sort of mass produced way, and they look decent on a table, but nothing worth posting in here.
So often I've thought about really having a good go of my Dreadnought or one of my HQ guys, but I just never can be bothered.

Its been a long time since I've done any of this, but been looking into this for a Call of Cthulhu game recently. Ordered some Black Cat Bases minis.
Apparently the original Citadel paints were just a rebrand of these guys paints and you can still buy them. http://www.blackhat.co.uk/coat_darms/paintcolours.php
Guess I know where I'm going for my paint, unless anyone else suggests any better/cheaper options.

Tell you what though, I forgot how daunting having a pile of minis to work on can be. Dont think I've ever put this much effort or expense into preping them before either.

A lot of smaller figure places will do unlicenced "inspired-by" jobs.
That's Black Cats Bases "Friendly Robot". They've also got some distinctly Fallout style robots, but since those are just stolen from Classic Sci-fi to begin with, they're fair game.

It's all brush work, although I have considered purchasing an air brush.
