Xbox Live Director Larry Hryb, known to most as Major Nelson, saw his gamercard subject to a recent hacker attack.

Nelson's gamercard was nabbed by a hacker known as 'LiGHTzz' who quickly changed the account info to... well, rude words that Microsoft's Xbox Live figurehead wouldn't be caught saying. At least not on his gamercard anyway - we're sure there was a bit of effing and blinding once he found out what happened.

Stephen Toulouse, Microsoft's Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox Live, revealed that they snatched back the gamercard shortly after it was hacked, yet there are no details on what happened or how it happened.

Still, it'll be interesting to read the comments on Major Nelson's website the next time he updates Xbox Live users with security guidelines and the like.

Well if he isn't safe.......

As funny as this is, Microsoft are surely going to crush this guy into nothingness.

He "threatened" to leak the Halo Reach Alpha that was on Major Nelson's account too. I'm not entirely sure who he was threatening, but I would have quite liked to see some footage from it... :shifty:

It seems he's pretty open and boastful about his life, and the website he uses to "sell" his services was signed up under his real name and address so he isn't exactly the sneakiest of fellows.

If Microsoft wanted to then they could really go after him, as GAF seem to believe that hacking like that is a federal offence. It shall be interesting to see what they decide to do, since it's a bit humiliating for them to have their most visible account hacked like that.

Don't they need some sort of email account that is attached to Nelson's account?

How else would they hack his account?

I doubt it was a real hack. They probably just pulled a Goat on his secret question: "What is your favourite games console?"

I read about this earlier and it seems like he has done this many times before albeit to less high profile targets. I'm guessing the fact that he is still doing it means that MS can't do a thing about it.
