You literally couldn't make this up. The lengths they are going to, to cover up the shady prosecution is unbelievable.

Still the documentary makers must be rubbing their hands together with all these dramatic plot twists!

I really don't know what to think about Avery being found guilty. I think the documentary clearly was on his side to make it a more interesting show but if he didn't kill her then who did? The evidence the defence had clearly showed police misconduct but that doesn't exonerate Avery, I just don't know, such a clusterfuck. To think that whilst we're all watching and debating this, he's been in prison for 10 years is just mental.

Still feel the same I think.

I don't quite understand your thinking on this, you accept that there was police misconduct but fail to see that guilty or not, the Trial was a sham.

The trail was a sham no doubt as was the investigation or at least the way the documentary portrayed it anyway but I'm still not convinced that Steven is innocent, maybe he is and maybe he isn't but neither him or the prosecution convinced me. I know the burden is on prosecution to prove guilt but I'm just giving an opinion on it.

A federal appeals court in Chicago has upheld a lower court's ruling overturning Brendan Dassey's conviction for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County.

Attorney Steven A Drizin, who has worked on the Dassey case, tweeted that the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed Judge William Duffin's ruling in a 2-1 vote.

In August, federal judge William Duffin overturned Dassey’s 1st Degree Intentional Homicide conviction, ruling that Dassey’s confession was improperly obtained by Manitowoc County investigators due to his age (he was 16 at the time); intellectual deficits and lack of adult present for his questioning. The ruling states that Dassey’s confession to helping his uncle rape and kill Halbach was involuntary under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

Action 2 News is working to get that decision and will update this breaking news story.

That was the most strawberry floated up part of the prosecution portrayed in the doc. Good.

It was awful where he was sat there asking if hecould go home and told if he told the truth he could, then was told what to say.

Well he genuinely was (is) a retard that thought a good answer to any question, whatever it was, is to either echolalia (language syndrome for repeating what other people say mindlessly) or make up a story about it. Which is obviously what he did in the forced confession, that was set up exactly like a school exam (wasn't it even in a school?) and that is also why he sucked at school. He just made gooseberry fool up. In a similar way to when you really can't be bothered to recall an answer to a question at school or write an essay, you just write a load of bollocks to get through the day, and that's what some kids with learning difficulties or total apathy (or both) do every time because they don't know how else to "pass the test". They just don't care about school, or can't fathom what they're supposed to be doing.

All he wanted was to watch Wrestlemania.

It is something a 5 year old does all the time. If your brain basically stopped developing very young then that's what you continue doing. But with even more disturbed gooseberry fool thrown in the mix from what TV or books or whatever tell you or what people are telling you you did, in this case. Instead of finding a giraffe in a bin or this time I made a robot alligator out of lego technic and it had AI and everything and I formed a club around it where we wrote cards to teach it letters and colours and I gave out pamphlets done in felt tips, but it never existed (when I started building something that LOOKED like it could be a robot alligator).. you put the knife in the vagina and put your penis in the mouth and there was a chain and it was just like Wrestlemania but I did the sex.

Etc. It doesn't really take a genius to figure out that kid had no idea what he was saying.

(btw in that case I was fantasising about making a pet robot animal with my father who's a knob and never did any science/electronics with me despite being a top bonafide professor.)

lol, well I'm making an absurd comparison about the gooseberry fool that kids make up and I believe that's what Brendan Dassey did.

That story about my made up robot lego alligator is 100% true though. I was only 10.

(btw Dassey claimed he chained the victim to the bed with his dad, but I stole the knifed vagina thing from American Psycho. That was not an original thought :dread:)

'Making a Murderer' subject Steven Avery denied new trial

"Making a Murderer" subject Steven Avery has been denied a new trial for the murder of Teresa Halbach after a judge ruled there was not sufficient evidence to warrant one.

Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, Judge Angela Sutkiewicz issued the ruling Tuesday, saying, "The defendant has failed to establish any grounds that would trigger the right to a new trial in the interests of justice," according to ABC affiliate WBAY.

The judge also stated that "no further consideration will be given to this issue."

But Avery's attorney, Kathleen Zellner, said he's not giving up.

"We are filing an amended petition because we have additional test results and witness affidavits. The scientific testing is not completed. We remain optimistic that Mr. Avery's conviction will be vacated," Zellner said in a statement to WBAY.

Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were each convicted of first-degree intentional homicide during separate jury trials in 2007. Prosecutors said the duo raped and murdered Halbach, a freelance photographer, on the Avery family’s salvage yard in Mishicot, Wisconsin.

The 10 all-new episodes will see filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos return to the Midwest for what is being billed as exclusive access to Seven Avery and his co-defendant and nephew Brendan Dassey, their families and legal teams fighting on their behalf. The next batch of episodes will offer a look at the post-conviction process and explore the emotional toll that the case has had on all involved.

"Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,” executive producers, writers and directors Ricciardi and Demos said in a joint statement. “Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.”

Part two will introduce viewers to Avery's post-conviction lawyer Kathleen Zellner as she looks to prove that Avery was wrongly convicted. Zellner has reversed more wrongful convictions than any other private attorney in the country. Dassey's post-conviction lawyers Laura Nirider and Steven Drizin will also be featured as they fight to prove that his confession was involuntary.

Has anyone watched any of this yet?

How does it fare in comparison to series one (rhymes with wun)?
Boring or full of intrigue and twists?

Watched the first episode yesterday. It was interesting, but I suspect this is naturally going to be more in-depth courtroom stuff than the last one. Still, it kept my attention, so far so good.
